The fisherman's wife, Sanna, was sitting by the fire mending a broken sail. Outside the house, the cold wind was blowing, and the surging waves were hitting the shore, splashing waves. There was a storm on the sea. It was dark and cold outside, but it was warm and comfortable in the fisherman's hut. The ground was swept clean, the fire in the stove was still burning, and the utensils were shining on the shelves. On the bed with white curtains, the five children were sleeping quietly in the sea breeze. Her husband was sailing out to sea in the early morning. Sanna was still not back yet. She listened to the roaring waves and the howling wind, and her heart skipped a beat.
