White Light described the disparity between the rich and the poor in Chinese society in the early 1920s, the rise of the revolutionary movement, and the personal experience and growth of the protagonist, White Light. These three novels were all representative works of Ba Jin and were widely regarded as classics of modern Chinese literature.
