Yin and Yang was an important concept in Taiji Fist. It referred to the two opposing and mutually dependent aspects of the universe. Yin and Yang were the basis of the existence of all things in the universe and one of the core theories of Taiji Fist. In Taiji Fist, Yin and Yang were relative, not absolute. Yin and Yang were mutually dependent, transforming, restricting and complementing each other.

The yin and yang in Taiji Fist had two meanings: one was the philosophical yin and yang, namely the mutual opposition and dependence of yang and yin; the other was the yin and yang in Taiji Fist theory, namely the two opposing parts inside and outside the body.

In Taiji Fist, the Taiji Diagram was the symbol of Yin and Yang. The Taiji Diagram was made up of Yin and Yang fish. The curves between the Yin and Yang fish represented the mutual dependence and transformation between Yin and Yang. The Taiji Fist manual also contained the content of Yin and Yang. For example, the phrase "Taiji Yin and Yang revolve endlessly" in the "Taiji Fist Song" meant that the circulation between Yin and Yang was the law of Taiji Fist.
