One of the interesting folktales I read outside of class was the Legend of the White Snake. The story tells the love story between the White Lady and Xu Xian. Their love has experienced many twists and turns and tests. At the beginning of the story, the White Lady was a kind and beautiful woman while Xu Xian was a kind human. After they met, the White Lady found herself attracted by Xu Xian's kindness and integrity and began a beautiful relationship. However, the White Lady was a snake that had cultivated into a spirit, while Xu Xian was a human. This led to many conflicts. In order to prevent Xu Xian from falling in love with others, the White Lady resorted to all kinds of means, including magic and curses. Finally, Xu Xian realized the true identity of the White Lady and decided to face all the difficulties with her. Their love had gone through many twists and turns, but in the end, they overcame all the difficulties and finally became husband and wife, living a happy life. The Legend of the White Snake is one of the classic Chinese folktales. It not only tells a touching love story, but also reflects the thoughts and emotions of Chinese cultural tradition.
