To develop your RWBY OC team characters, explore their fears and weaknesses. A character who is afraid of heights but has to face situations where they have to climb tall structures will be more interesting. Their weaknesses can also be related to their personality. A prideful character might not ask for help when they need it, which could lead to problems for the team. Additionally, give them hobbies or interests outside of being a huntsman or huntress. It makes them more three - dimensional.
First, give them distinct personalities. For example, one could be a hot - headed fighter, always ready for action. Then, think about their backstories. Maybe one grew up in poverty and that shapes their view on the world. Also, consider their goals. A character might want to become the best huntsman to prove themselves to their family. Their appearance can also reflect their personality, like a character with a lot of spikes on their outfit being more aggressive - looking.
You need to think about their relationships with other team members. Are they the leader? If so, how do they lead? Are they more of a follower? Their relationships can be complex. For instance, two members might have a rivalry at first but later become friends through shared experiences. Another aspect is their Semblance. It should tie in with their personality. If a character is very secretive, their Semblance could be related to invisibility or misdirection.
