How can the worlds of Gi Joe and Transformers be blended well in a crossover fanfiction?
Blending the cultures of the two is also important. The military - style discipline of the Gi Joe team can contrast and complement the more mechanical and alien culture of the Transformers. You could have scenes where the Joes are amazed by the Transformers' technology, and the Transformers are intrigued by the Joes' human - like emotions and loyalty. For example, a Transformer might not understand why the Joes risk their lives for their comrades, but as they work together, they come to respect this human trait. Also, in terms of the story's setting, you can have parts of the story take place on Earth in military bases and other parts on Cybertron among the giant robotic structures.
The key is to find common ground. Both have their own groups of heroes and villains. You can start by having a threat that affects both universes. For instance, a new evil force that wants to take over both Earth (where the Joes operate) and Cybertron (the Transformers' home). This forces the two groups to collaborate.
Character development is crucial. Each character from both universes should have their own arc in the fanfiction. Let's say Scarlett from Gi Joe. At first, she might be skeptical about the Transformers' ability to work as a team since they seem so different from humans. But as she gets to know them better, she realizes they have their own code of honor. And for a Transformer like Megatron, his encounter with the Gi Joe team could make him more determined to conquer not just Cybertron but also Earth, seeing the Joes as a new threat. This way, the characters' growth is tied to the crossover and makes the blend of the two worlds more believable.
