this version of the story is actually a good translation and is readable, so give it a shot.
Weak! I read chinese novels via Google Translate for a year now and they are all 97% readable! ;) It is an balancing act between not thinking too much, but at the same time connecting dots to interpret the meaning correctly.

but the main problem is sometimes character gender is questionable. like sometime it will translate as he and sometimes it will be she .

But through context you will know the gender 99% of the time. Sometimes you can't tell, but in that case the gender probably doesn't even matter for the story. The wrong use of he/she, he/her, etc. is indeed annoying though, I give you that.
