== review as of chapter 40 == Shen Haixing’s estranged father gives Haixing a house and money in exchange for her to marry into the Ji family. Her husband to be is the male lead, Ji Yan, a crippled man. However, Shen Haixing sees this as an opportunity for herself and doesn’t let anyone try to suppress her. Even though Haixing’s has a cold and strict demeanor, she treats her position as Ji Yan’s wife seriously and treats the family with warmth. Although Haixing scares many of the Ji siblings of they easily warm up to her attentive personality - even Ji Yan was quick to fall for her warmth and charms. I think that the novel is well written. Each character that we see so far in the Ji family have their own charms and distinct personality. Haixing’s genuine treatment to the Ji family is heartwarming to read. And on top of that, there’s not much drag, if Haixing wants something done, she will get it done in a good face slapping way. Though I do enjoy this one so far, everything moves too seamlessly that although it’s sweet and fun, there’s just not enough to capture my attention. Shen Haixing is talented in every aspect with the fact that “she grew up in an environment where she was forced to learn many skills.” So every curveball that she’s receiving so far, she easily can catch and get out of it. She’s beautiful in every aspect with her jade like ankles and perfect collarbone dip that everyone envies her even though she grew up in a bad community abroad. Although she is cold, everyone in the Ji family warms up to her within their very first meeting. There just lacks a lot of depth to her even though she’s fun to read about. So far, we don’t have much on Ji Yan. We know he’s was instantly attracted to Haixing and was in a car accident that made him wheelchair bound. Someone is out to get him and even though he’s known as a prodigy in the business world, he couldn’t figure out that he was being schemed against the whole time. Though this novel is centered towards the female lead, I’m assuming we will be seeing our male lead in the near chapters as he tries to recover from the accident. I’ll most likely continue to read this but as our female lead is already so perfect, if there’s not much development on our male lead, I don’t know if I can continue to read the novel. I need a little bit more growth in my characters even if there’s a lack of believability in the world/character setting. I do have to say that the children of the Ji family are my favorite part of the novel. If anything, I’ll continue to look forward to their interactions with Shen Haixing.
