It's a very odd story in that the characters are all Western, with names like Finn, Larson, Jones, but there's so many Asian elements: jade pieces, filial duty. Did the translator localise the story to a Western setting or was it originally written that way?
In the end, there's eight chapters available of the MC being berated by his in-laws. He was married into the rich family by the family's patriarch, who jaunts off somewhere afterwards. His wife marries him because she was forced to, so there's no affection there at all. It's leading up to him proving he's worth something after all, like Cinderella I guess, but that's all behind a paywall so who knows.
