great book, awesome premise, good execution - up until a certain point. the author ends up going crazy with harem building at the expense of plot, and then reveals a plot twist that never gets fully fleshed out because the ending emphasizes the harem and not the actually plot of the story. it’s a great time killer but don’t count on a satisfying ending.

kinda unfair then that mc got a “survive” task, since he could mostly focus on not dying…

well zhu is like zhu bajie, aka pigsy, hou is like “monkey” as in the monkey king, but i can’t figure out what “ji” he uses

it’s a pretty specific figure of speech, so unless they had encountered it in other chinese novels, i doubt they would get it haha
