This is a pretty damn good story. Like the pedal-to-the-metal start we got, a no-holds-barred kinda of MC, really like the style. He ain't full murderhobo, but solves problems in an interesting way rather than just ooga booga violence. I also feel that the author is quite skilled in the sense that the worldbuilding is slowly revealed over time rather than straight up info dumped like many other webnovels (you know which ones i'm talkin about). This makes the revealation of details more natural and fluid, so you really get this sense of wonder and exploration alongside the MC. The other side characters aren't dumb either - they have their own motivations and are not just full pushovers, making for an intricate web of lies and interactions. Overall, pretty damn good, I'll say better than most other webnovels. And don't hit me with the 'Have you read LOTM and RI and Legendary Mechanic and Super Gene and The Mech Touch" The best thing those books got going for them is the sheer number of chapters, not the writing style. This story? If it keeps up the stable updates, it's looking like a contender for top 10, top 20 on webnovel for sure, a breath of fresh air in terms of writing quality (especially if you got MTL brainrot) Keep an eye on this one 100%.

Drake is extremely relatable to how I would react in such a situation (which may or may not be terrible) but his off-hand comments and sayings really got a few good laughs out of me. I have not read all the way, but I found myself already glued reading past my expected appointment time, to the point where I had to keep reading even while I was meeting others. All the usual tropes is there, and it worked without a hitch. Great progression, great character. I love the singular focus on Drake along with sparse chapters on other viewpoints. Not too pushy, but enough to keep the reader aware of the other players around Drake as well. Style: The humour and flow of the story is great, it really makes for a simple nice easy read. So far nothing that really throws off the pacing of the story ( except the namesake of the novel, hint hint) The way he describes the battle is great as well, just enough details for the readers to visualize and feel like they were Drake, fighting off the same monsters. Story: I've read up to Chapter 27. But so far it's been pretty great, with all the interesting interactions between Drake and people he meet along the way that I felt the need to review this so others can see it. The item descriptions are also hilarious. I always love 'Systems' that flame the owner or user. The way he scuffles with the skills and item drops that he gets is extremely interesting and gets a good laugh out of me all the time. Grammar: No major flaws, and no minor problems either. Nothing broke the flow at which I read, and that's a big plus! Character: Oh Drake you silly boy. I love all his wild-card like antics, and the light-hearted view that he adopts when going through the world. But when it comes down to the nitty gritty, Drake really does deliver the hardwork and focus on goals to overcome or surpass others. Something worthy of admiring in a main character, and it makes the reader want to support him from their hearts. Overall, a great read. I think I'm going to end the review here and keep reading, because it's that fluid of a read. Great job!

Great start to the story, intrguing characters. I feel like the dialogue could be improved a lot more. The sentences are also too tightly packed together for the purpose of a webnovel (e.g need more broken up paragraphs - too many lines clumped together) The dialogue should be clearly separated as well for ease of reading. Going past that, the lack of description of the environment makes it hard for the reader to actually picture how the scene looks like in their head. Not saying you have to go overboard, but needs a bit more words of description to help the reader along in defining the scene.

Hi, I think the dialogue is very hard to read. It is not immediately apparent who is talkling.

*** FIRST 20 CHAPTERS RELEASE *** 01/01/2023 0000 UTC - 20 Chapters will be published in sequence. Hi, I'm the author so naturally I am using the review section to explain the general flow of the story so you can decide if you want to read or not! I personally classify the story as a tragic space opera. It has some grounding in modern day science (i build satellites for my full time job) so I generally know what I'm writing about. However I would position it as a light sci-fi more than hard sci-fi. If you liked stories like Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Forty Millenniums of Cultivation, The Mech Touch, and you specifically want more of the political intrigue and conflict of interests between powerful groups, then this is the space opera for you! In terms of story development, there are definitely twists that is not regular for a webnovel release. I try to avoid as many cliches as possible to provide an alternative reading experience to the generic system novel etc. There is no face-slapping at the very start, but more of a simmering anger that you might develop over the course of reading the story. I feel that is a much better approach to the health of the story. The villians are not simple knockovers that are propped up just for the main character to slam down - they have their own agendas and viewpoints that some of you may agree with ( or at least my test audience agreed with). There are no one-dimensional villians in this story, except for comedic purpose. For power progression, there is no clear ceiling to the power, and is theoretically infinite, but I liken the power increment that the main character finds to be more of 'how do I use the power' rather than 'more power'. Think something along the lines of how energy can't be created. I'm not very good at english, so you may find grammar inconsistent as well as speech patterns slightly changing over time. Schedule: 1 Chapter a Day, 1900 Hrs UTC everyday barring special exceptions. How many chapters have already been written as of 30th December 2022? - 170 chapters, I write one every weekday, two each weekend. Arc 1 and Arc 2 is completed. Will you finish the story? - Of course, until the end of the tragedy.

Ceres's Chaos

Rising Stars Main on RoyalRoad EDIT (15-01-2023): I'm not interested in uploading on webnovel any longer - far too much effort to get my novel seen through the vast amount of new novels. It's much easier on Royal Road IMO. If you want me to update webnovel then comment in the chapters. Check out the novel on Royal Road if you want daily chapters way beyond what's here. We're #8 on Rising Stars Sci-Fi. --------------- A Tragic Space Opera. No one-dimensional villians, no overpowered MCs, no plot armour, no gimmicky Systems. Exosuits, Mayhem, Chaos. A weak protagonist gets his normal life and expectations shattered by those who covet him. New Chapter every day following 01/01/2023 (1100-1900 UTC). 2400-3500 words per chapter. If below 2500, double chapters released. 170 completed chapters in storage, all scheduled! Mainly posted on Royal Road first! RR: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/62494/ceress-chaos-a-tragic-space-opera --------------------------- On the surface of a dusty, backwater mining planet, Ceres is a 20-year-old orphan leading a simple life in the Galactic Era – an age of technological wonders! In a world of exosuit combat where strength is the only currency, Ceres fights to find his place using only his wits and skills. But when a mysterious white box from his mentor imbues him with power beyond reason, his life is thrown into turmoil. Political intrigue, human greed and a swirling whirlpool of galactic proportions threaten to create the perfect storm and completely rip Ceres’ life from his own hands. Why is he being hunted by secret forces far beyond his understanding? What purpose does the box and it’s contents have? And perhaps the most confusing of all: why has Ceres been labelled as ‘the First Apocalypse’?
