Hilarity aside, this is about the stupidest heist I’ve read. Nobody smells the petrol? In the first place, why would anyone carry out a deal in a coffee shop for something as precious as whatever orb it was? And nobody has any suspicions of the guy carrying a can of petrol to a coffee shop that he didn’t drive to? Did these suits want the object to get stolen?

If the crystal isn’t found then the family will always be suspected especially by those guys who tracked the crystal since they know it was purchased by the aunt. So instead, Ning shi claims the crystal and shows a strength greater than tier 6 (maybe tier 7) which is the level where the crystal can be used. He can just say he used it already and the matter should end there since fighting with a tier 7 promoting to 8 for a crystal that’s already been used seems uneconomical.
