in this context, its not sympathize but empathize. Sympathy is a way to show that you share the same experience as the victim, feeling pity with them because you've experienced it before and understood what it feels like Whereas Empathy is where you understand their feelings even if you havent experienced it yourself and critize them as a way to guide them out of their misery, just like what Su Qi is doing here their both very similar and can sometimes be interchangeable but theres also a defining line where they seperated, i like to think that their one road that diverges into two, its the same road but they lead to different destinations
