No, in that world it would be considered medieval. WE consider it 'fantasy' but to THEM it is a real world and they are real people. From THEIR standpoint, it is a normal medieval society. Magic and all the other fantastical things you mentioned are normal to the inhabitants of that world. As such, the MC's extremely modern attire that lacks proper protection would be considered strange peasant clothes. No proper knight or adventurer there would walk around in thin cloth clothing; unless they were supremely confident in their combat skills.

You are the one that seems extremely ignorant here. If you truly believe regular cloth could provide the same protection as leather or steel (assuming the same enchantments) then I pity you.

I didn't say anything about creating or even understanding how the world works there lmao; it's just common sense. Thicker or denser materials (assuming the same enchantments) will almost always provide better protection (or defense stat, if you wish). It doesn't have to be bulky, but if you truly believe that thin/regular cloth material (like 'regular shirt, trousers, and wind breakers') would provide better or equal protection (defense stat) compared to something like 'dragon leather' or steel (assuming they have the same enchantments) then it will be hopeless to try to explain it to you any further. Both of the example materials you used in you 'example' would be better than the regular cloth chosen by the MC. As for taking physical damage, as far as I am aware (been a while since I watched the series) there was a threshold that, when surpassed, would begin to cause actual physical damage (like cuts and bleeding). However, in THIS fanfic, they can and do take physical damage so your point is moot.

The whole point was that it DOES compromise protection. If the exact same enchantments are placed on a metal plate or leather armor versus a plain cloth armor, which do you think will provide better protection? It's common sense. As for the style, I agree that choosing something stylish is always better but he will stand out like a sore thumb with such a modern style. Not that standing out is bad, per se, but if he compromises his protection for it then it's just dumb.

They are real people living real lives; not nerds living out their fantasies in a video game with indestructible avatars. I also know that there is magic (as I stated in my first reply) but that doesn't change the fact that the clothing is too modern. Feel free to look up Rising of the Shield Hero and check out the common attire. It is based on medieval fantasy style clothing; not modern stuff like hooded wind breakers. The closest equivalent would be like a hooded robe or cloak. I agree that they could be enchanted (and they are if I remember correctly, been a while since I read this) but it's still dumb to choose that over actual physical armor; which would provide much better protection and presumably hold better/more enchantments than regular cloth. It's just common sense.

Lol, you are comparing an actual medieval society — with flesh and blood bodies — to a virtual reality video game; played by people from a futuristic society who live out their fantasies through a virtual avatar. They take actual physical damage here, so protecting themselves against metal weapons with regular clothes is just ridiculous. They wouldn't just lose HP when they are slashed or stabbed. Not to mention that the style is way too modern for a medieval society. Remember, these aren't nerds pretending to be kings and adventurers in a video game. These are actual people living in an actual medieval society; despite the supernatural inclusions and video game-like world laws.
