The beginning of the story starts with something generic, the mc was the last general of humanity since the advent of the apocalypse with the demon lord looming over them. The mc uses a sacrificial type of move(Trading his life for an instant of power), however he is sent back to the past into the Other world way before the apocalypse descended on Earth. After this generic start of the story however is where the story starts to shine, the story will keep on picking up the pace, the mc will have no time to rest, he will keep on facing crisis after crisis, even when facing a crisis all of a sudden the situation will worsen even more. Try reading it I honestly love it

Boss went through a lot

Probably the originator of the apocalypses, or the ultimate bad guy of the series has not shown themselves yet as the MC is most likely still too weak compared to Shifu when she was at her peak.

I think its a matter of saying that the more thoughts does not mean better comprehension, quality vs quantity argument. Plus to comprehend other paths the normal way instead of Primordial domain/Dream realms/Will inheritances requires countless experience and an investment of time, in addition to aptitude. In Fang Yuan's past life he was preparing for the central continent refinement competition(can't recall the exact wording) for countless years, that didn't make him a master of refinement path though.
