Honestly, I've always been drawn to the idea of Fang Yuan following the Time Path. Because Strength Path... kind of lame? It has some benefits, like it doesn't use essence that much. Perhaps his pathway is an inversion of the usual paths? Like... Usually it's about "keeping humanity and only acting", but his pathway is about "throw away humanity; don't act, be." When he gets the "Unwinged Angel" characteristic, he loses his conscience, gets the "Manipulator" characteristic, becomes manipulative... and so on, till there's nothing left of the original personality. ┐(￣ヘ￣;)┌
