Pragmatically what you're saying is true, but it assumes that humans are cold logical machines that will only ever take the most logical, optimal path forward. People are people, we have thoughts and feelings, things we like, things we don't like, things we wanna do and things we don't wanna do. If your goal is to survive or gain power, then it would be incredibly inefficient to spend 15 years on some farm, alone but for one other person. But if your goal is to just live happily and peacefully with someone you love, then that inefficient path suddenly becomes incredibly efficient. My point is that the goal is important. Also, I'm rambling, but like, sometimes as a human you just have to act on your feelings, instead of doing whatever's smart. Sometimes you have to make a mistake to be happy.
