Disagree. It really depends on how long ago they became your step siblings. My two oldest sisters are technically step sisters because they both have different fathers, but I didn’t know this til I was like 10-11 and always treated them as my actual sisters. And so I still do, even now. I can imagine gaining step siblings at an older age can be very awkward, however.
