I think this is a copycat/webnovel stolen idea. I found a MTL novel: mtlnation (dot) com/novel/cracking-the-case-crazy-i-can-see-the-crime-scene/ Basically the same summary. The plot seems different; at least chapter 40 (the only chapter i checked) is different.

Also just a small detail but how old does the MC have to look for people to think that he's the father of Xu Wenmeng who was introduced as "around the same age"? Or I guess the Xu girl looks really young?

I mean webnovel is still owned by qidian though. Also, since it is a translation and not an original work, it's not like the translators are at liberty to change the story as they wish.

Did you not read the earlier replies? People already mentioned that it had the same name and summary with a different plot. Why are you surprised that the story is different?
