Difference in culture really. Chinese people would say "Da Jie"(older sister) or "Da Ge"(older brother) instead of auntie or uncle. Naturally, you can qlso call them auntie or uncle but that would be because you are close to them. I you would call a random woman auntie, it would sound rude and therefore people would call them sister to be respectful. Auntie makes them sound old and such. You would see this in many chinese works so don't be surprised if they call each other sister or big brother but isn't really related.

Its not really slow per se. Think of all the blaster bolts we see on screen in film and tv shows as modern day tracers. Also I think it was canon where Jedi can't actually see blaster bolts but can "feel" them with their uncanny senory ability
