I think one or two chapters on this isn't that bad. We're talking about someone going through a crisis about their morals concerning killing, if it were resolved in one or two paragraphs and just one conversation then they didn't need any change in their morals in the first place. I get what you mean about protecting your loved ones and I agree, but if you truly think taking a life even in the defense of others is easy on the mind, I think you're wrong. Just skip the chapters if you aren't satisfied, but I like it, it's called character development. Something sorely lacking in most fanfics, good job Author!
