The robbers

~Letty~

Early in the morning, when the sun wasn't even visible on the horizon, we woke up and went to say goodbye to Victor. Also, Aiden wanted to remember him about the camp that will start tomorrow, but as soon as we came Victor forced us to share breakfast with him that will be at eight in the morning, and then we can get back home. We agreed, as friendship and good relationships with Victor were important to us, and went to the balcony on the second floor of his house to drink some coffee. There, the boys led on the talk they probably haven't finished yesterday.

"You haven't answered my question, yes, or no?" Victor turned to Aiden, taking a sip of coffee. I put my hand on Aiden's waist, then looked at the forest visible from here. If to compare two Packs, Aiden's and Victor's, I miss the forest a lot. I definitely don't miss the big and busy city, and I like the way Aiden and his Pack are living.

"That's not me who should be asked this question," Aiden put his hand at my waist, pressing me to himself. I turned my head in their direction, throwing the thoughts about jumping from the balcony and running into the forest in my wolf's form away.

"What was the question about?" I looked at Victor, smiling at him and making a slow gulp of a hot coffee with cream.

"Aiden was talking about children yesterday and drawing such a nice family picture, that I thought about your pregnancy?" Victor asked straight, taking a sip of coffee. I chuckled, saying thanks that I already swallowed the coffee.

"What? No, at least I'd know about that somehow!" I threw a killing look at Aiden, "Don't spread rumors, please!"

"I said nothing," Aiden looked at me calmly, "And hasn't answered his question yesterday specifically."

"Hm," I turned my head away from them and took a sip of coffee, looking at the forest in front of us. Aiden started stroking my back with his hand, staying silent.

In an hour the Chef reported that the breakfast for us was ready, so the three of us got down, and went to the dining room, where the table was served for the three people. I took my chair, which Aiden pulled me out, and looked at Victor sitting at the head of the table.

"Where's your mate?" I asked without choosing words, the same way he asked me about my "pregnancy". Victor looked at Aiden, taking a fork and a knife in his hands. There was a silent question he asked Aiden in his head, at which Aiden, who just sat near me, shook his head negatively.

"That's your past, why would I tell Letty? Moreover, she never asked it before." Aiden took a fork and a knife in his hands and started eating the breakfast Victor's Chef prepared for us.

"I rejected my mate when I was a teen, and since then I haven't found my mate yet. Maybe, The Moon God punished me for rejecting my mate, but I didn't have actually the choice. Staying with her would be the biggest mistake I ever made in my life," Victor replied, then started eating breakfast. I did as he and Aiden, even if I wanted to ask more about why he did that and why it would be his biggest mistake. I knew we should first eat, then we can finish talking while we're all full, or even put that question to the camp. However, Victor led his speech after he finished eating on his own. "She was the daughter of my family's enemy. Her father couldn't agree that we got this territory as he wanted his Pack to be near the Moonflower Pack, he was doing everything to make us a hard life. I couldn't forget how my father was doing everything to save the Pack and marry that girl. Moreover, what if she was like her father and her goal was to take our Pack for her father's dream to come true? I couldn't risk."

I arched an eyebrow, listening to his story, and couldn't believe my own ears.

"So you rejected her for the Pack?"

"I never loved her," he added, and it sounded like he was no longer accepting questions. Like I was going to ask them.

All the way back to our camp, I was as silent as a mouse. The reason was in Victor's words why he rejected that girl, as it was ridiculous for me. He could easily stop the war between his father and her father by marrying that girl, but he chose to be alone. That's at least stupid.

"Letty," Aiden put a hand on my knee, driving a car, "Victor is my friend, yes, but can talk to me about what is bothering you."

"He rejected her for being a daughter of his family's enemy? What?" I looked at Aiden, feeling anxious rising in my and breaking my chest into two pieces. It was deep in my throat, not letting me make a deep breath.

"I never appreciated his choice," Aiden shook his head negatively, "They are still enemies. She's the Alpha now and doing exactly what her father was doing to Victor's. He could stop that war, but only made it worse."

"I see," I shrugged, "I'm glad you don't think he did the right choice. Would you marry that girl if you were him?"

"If I were in a situation like that, I'd do everything to stop the war. I'm against rejecting mates at all," Aiden shrugged, driving to the garage that was already opened. I saw werewolves of Aiden's Pack running around with some things in their hands, so the preparation for the camp has already started and is going pretty well. "However, I'm not allowed to judge his lifestyle, Victor always had too much love for females. One day he'll stop, I'm sure, but when depends on him."

That was the final dot we put in that conversation. The whole day we were helped to organize the camp, checking the things that should be present to make the camp comfortable and at the same time be ready for a fight. When the sun started going down, Aiden started calling all the guests from the list to remember them to come to us the next morning, while I was checking the food and drinks from the list if we packed everything.

"Is everything alright?" William asked, coming closer to me, seeing that I'm stuck in one place, looking over the boxes with drinks that were loaded into the truck. He jumped at the truck near me and looked at the list I was holding in my hands.

"There are written five boxes of the craft beer, but I can't see a single one here. Was it supposed to be loaded to another truck or what?" I looked at William, then gave him the list, where all the present drinks were marked with a check mark. William looked through it a few times, then frowned and raised his head at me.

"That beer is supposed to be the king of the whole camp. It should be delivered from the city a few hours ago and loaded here at first, but there seem to be some problems. Someone either forgot to deliver it, or to load at the truck," William jumped out of the truck and gave his hand to me, "I'll go ask Chris if he knows something. Can you please check the truck with products as well? You have eagle eyes!"

I nodded and grabbed his hand, jumped out of that truck, took the list of products Aiden wrote, and climbed into the nearest truck. When I almost finished, I heard an unknown voice coming closer to the truck, so I tried to catch their conversation to understand who they were. However, if only I knew what was hiding behind those unknowns!

"They haven't even figured out that beer is missing. What's the most important among the food they prepared for that stupid camp? If we stole something as good as that beer, we can make our own camp, even better than theirs!" The first voice was too young to belong to William or Aiden, and from the first words, it was clear I don't know the owner. Those were the robbers who stole the craft beer out of the first truck, and they were going to steal something from this truck as well. I put the list of products aside, hid it in some box with food, and stepped into the darkness of the truck.

The two teenagers climbed inside the truck and started looking around, seeking for something as good as the beer they stole. I pressed my back to the truck, trying to be invisible to them until I figure out what to do.

"I heard they want to present their fruits at this camp to make the other Packs buy them. Let's steal those fruits!" The second one whispered, pointing at the five boxed with the fruits from the Pack's garden. However, the first one grimaced, and they gave up on that idea, seeking something else.

{I can't stay here for so long. How can I make them scared?}

The idea came into my mind as fast as ever. I started transforming into a wolf, trying to make no sound at all, pleading with my wolf to take all the pain away. When it was done, I stepped on my four and roared silently. The two teenagers froze and looked at the darkness where I was.

"Who's there?" Their voice was shaking. I roared louder, seeing them making steps back out of the truck. I called for Aiden deep in my head, knowing he can easily hear me even at distance, and roared louder.

{Don't you two dare to escape!}

I easily jumped above their heads, away from the truck, and turned to them quickly, not letting them escape. I heard steps running in my direction and other werewolves running out of their houses, hearing my roar.

"The robbers?" Aiden was furious.
