摘要

A young soul drifting through the void is waiting for something to happen just to be chosen by "something" to come back to the world of the living, just...a little different world than the young soul was accustomed to. Will young soul go with the whims of whoever or whatever chose him? Will he try to rebel and overcome that "thing"? Or...will they both compromise and find a middle path to take on this journey in this new cruel world? [A/N: This is the fan-fic about Against the Gods. It's supposed to be more relaxing, more comedy and satire. You can expect a lot of cliches like in any other cultivation novels just to see how our MC from our world response to those. Also, this is AU so expect some different things from the original, also, I will be using a lot of other techniques and other ways of cultivating other than Profound Way] Cover shamelessly stolen from Pinterest, in case anyone would like me to take it off, no problem.

Chapter 1New beginning

'Where am I? Why can't I remember anything and why can't I see anything? It feels as if I am just floating in the void, without any purpose...all alone.' A soul in the form of a young man thought.

'Agh! What's this sudden pain?!' The soul couldn't produce any groan despite feeling intense pain, however, that wasn't the reason why the soul was so shocked, the whole reason for its shock was the fact that it couldn't pinpoint the location of the pain. The soul's natural actions were to catch its head however the soul could hardly move an inch.

.

.

24 hours later...

'...Finally, the pain subdued however I have no idea even for how long I have suffered. It's hard to keep the concept of the time when I can't see anything, smell anything, neither touch anything. However, after the pain subdued, I can remember a few fragments of what seems to be my memories. I know that I used to be human on the Earth and I can also remember what looked like my last moments before death.'

'No matter...if I am dead...why is it that I can still think? Shouldn't I be just sleeping forever or maybe reincarnate? Also, I can feel something else inside my body, that is...if I have a body since I can't feel anything neither can I move.'

[I apologize for the sudden intrusion and unnecessary pain you have experienced.] A sudden voice resounded inside the souls' mind.

'No worries...So? Who or what are you?' The soul sounded quite unfazed after hearing someone's monotonous voice inside its mind.

[What a composure...I was right to choose you. I have completed half of my job, anyway, please tell me your preferences on the body you would like to transmigrate into. I will explain everything once this is finished since you probably won't be able to remember anything.] Monotonous voice sounded quite pleased at first before regaining its indifferent tone.

'...I am not really going to tell you anything before you explain at least the basics, if you think that I lust for reincarnation or whatever, you are wrong.' The soul replied back in its mind, completely serious about its words. The soul could feel its memories slowly returning back to it.

[The new host is indeed demanding but I am supposed to answer your questions so be it. I chose you and your soul survived the process of blending together with me therefore we are one. There is no reason for me to try to harm my new host.]

'Then why did you choose me? Since you said that you chose me, it means there have to be many others besides me. Also, what do you mean by preferences? Am I supposed to choose some influential person and try to change the world or something like that?'

[Most souls that regain their consciousness tend to panic a lot, host, you were the one who caught my attention first, that's all. I also am not exactly sure what the host is talking about but the host isn't meant to transmigrate into someone's body on the host's previous world.]

'Well...whatever, it seems like you truly don't mean anything ill, and even if you did, I wouldn't be able to do anything so...my preferences, huh? It would help me more to know in which world I will have to live but I guess male, average looks, uninteresting on the first glance, also, if its some kind of fantasy cruel world, it would be helpful if the body had no relatives but would live somewhere secure enough. Also, please make him at least 15 years old.' The soul answered with slight amusement. Ever since the soul started regaining its old memories, it also started affecting its personality a little bit.

[I will try to do as the host wishes and in the meantime, the host should use the spare time to recover as many memories as he can. I will leave, for now, once I take possession of someone's body, the host's soul will be naturally drawn to it and the host's soul will fly towards it to join up with me once again. Don't panic once the host's soul starts moving and feel odd, it is a simple process of leaving this place, and getting out of here is much more unpleasant than getting inside.] The monotonous voice said before the young man's soul felt as if part of him got torn away.

'As if I would panic after meeting such a creepy voice, well, he was right, I should just focus on my memories, I am starting to see where I actually used to live so it might prove useful.' The soul thought and entered a deep sleep.

After what seemed like 30 days...

A boy was lying on the ground filled with rich green grass, near him was a gently flowing river and all around him were tall trees.

"?!" The boy who had his eyes closed till now suddenly opened them and started gasping for breath while pressing his hand to his throat. After catching his breath, he sat up and started looking around him with a lost expression.

[Is the host looking for me?]

Suddenly the boy heard a monotonous voice inside his head.

'You are bad at guessing...First, I was trying to see where I am and if I am safe staying here since I am in the wildness right now, however, I can't deny that hearing your voice is a little bit reassuring. Anyway, can you tell me details now that we are here?' The boy rolled his eyes before replying in his mind.

[I think that can wait for a few minutes]

'What do you- Not this again!' "Agh" The boy wanted to reply but before he was able to finish his question, he tightly gripped the sides of his head before releasing a groan while gritting his teeth in pain.

After a few minutes, the pain subdued and the boy was finally free to move albeit a bit sloppily since he was slightly exhausted.

The boy crawled on four near the small river to take a look at his reflection and what he saw made him release a blank expression. The boy was ordinary looking, a long dark turquoise hair tied in a long ponytail, his eyes were crimson red with not so notable vertical pupils. He had porcelain skin despite spending who knows how long lying in the sun. He had an overall athletic build but his arms had a few scratches and small scars, making his porcelain skin quite wasted. The boy's face was also covered by bits of dirt.

He decided to clean his face with the water and once he did and looked at his reflection once again...

'Fuck! So much for my request to be average looking...Why does this boy look like a woman? If I wouldn't have felt my pp down there, I would be ready to sue you for scamming me.' The boy thought.

[I apologize if I haven't done everything according to the host's preferences but I am not a human being, I have no conception of beauty. I saw that he had quite a dirty face so I thought it would suit your preferences. Anyway, why is the host so demanding when it comes to something mundane as looks?] The voice apologized but his voice didn't sound sincere at all.

'At least sound like you mean it when you apologize! As for my reasons...That's right, as you said, the looks are nothing but mundane or whatever it means thing, however, humans tend to pay a lot of attention to those mundane things, that's why I wanted to look ordinary, so I wouldn't stumble on any trouble. Well, at least he looks unnoticeable unless someone would be staring at him for a long time.'

[I see, I apologize for my incompetence. I failed to meet your requirements that weren't made just in the heat of the moment, they actually had meaning yet I failed to meet the host's expectations. Still, why does the host refer to himself in the third person?]

'*sigh* forget it. I am referring to myself in the third person just because I control this body for a few minutes...I can't just treat it as my own body as soonest as I take over it, can I?'

Yo why u sucking on Yun Che's dong? You made the dragon get a little stronger than canon just to kill it off and give it to Yun Che. By doing so he will be stronger than his canon self cuz he has better quality Dragons meat and blood. Not to mention other plotholes like Mc being able to overpower an EMPEROR PROFOUND BEAST but not human pactitioners at True Profound to Earth Profound. Don't use that 'He poisoned the dragon' crap. Not only that, it seems like Yun Che also got the Pheonix legacy despite your MC going to the trial first! Like how? The mc already completed the trial shouldn't the pheonix trial be useless but then in the tournament it is implied Yun Che also has it?! Jasmine even points it out to Yun Che how Mc's spear has the fragment of the Pheonix they met! Bruv.... Then the romance... Bro okay I don't have anything against your choice but like. Why is the mc being such a pussy? Like why act like a shy dude when she just leans on him? He finds her attractive why not just admit it? He's acting like CHILD not someone who lived TWO LIVES. Well enough ranting... Its not perfect but it's an okay fanfic. Theres hella alot of plotholes but u get over them kinda quickly. I just got pissed at those little things since I like to spot errors and shit. I stopped reading somewhere around him taking the dragons trial. I'll wait till it reaches 90 or 100 chaps before I give it a hivher review. (Most of the time I give high ratings its just that I like me some atg shit.) It u get butthury u can delete this review if u want author-san.

Everyone has varying opinions, so don't judge others by your own standard. I'll give writing quality 4 stars as the writing is understanding and no noticeable improvements took far till the latest chapter. As for the updates, it frequently updates with a chapter daily, so no complaints. But I'd like the author to think more about the plot than the updates. Thirdly, the story developments seem taking good shape at first but when it comes to the later parts, much of the plot seems forced for me. I mean, force isn't a term to use, but it is more or less similar that way. If you want a genuine, at least an author trying to make it genuine, I wouldn't suggest you read this. I can't tell about the MC anything in particular. He just isn't that active in relationships. Somewhere along the way, the author says he kinda sucks writing romance, I don't know what to say. The author says he just isn't taking it seriously and just polishing his skills. So, I advise you to think about it once more before giving it a try. My first review says things about how the interactions between the characters are changed accordingly by the author. It feels that the ATG isn't the ATG I read. If you're interested in reading bs, then it's good for you. I don't want to explain more, you would get it known once you give it a try. For me, it's the end... Hope the author takes his fanfic much seriously not including everything just for the sake of it. Some say I shouldn't review it at all, I don't mind them, Review section is here to let others know what they can expect in the fanfic. Maybe some one out there would share the same thoughts as me. People read fanfics when they don't like a certain aspect in the OG, and this fanfic isn't one of them. That is all, goodbye, and hope everyone has a nice day ahead. Note:- Stability of Updates is worthless when readers don't appreciate the work itself.
