THE YOUNG WIDOW AND THE MAN FROM THE PAST

"Your name is Sarah, right? Eat a little so you have energy. You don't want to linger here, do you?" a doctor spoke to Sarah without taking the smile off his handsome face.

However, only a small nod he received from Sarah which the doctor felt was better because Sarah already wanted to respond to his words.

Doctor Archie leaves Sarah's room. He doesn't forget to nod and smiled at Sarah's family as if to signal that everything was fine.

That same afternoon, Sarah's bed was pushed to the radiology room for an ultrasound examination. There Doctor Archie was waiting and sitting at his computer.

"Excuse me a moment, I'll check first," said Doctor Archie asking permission to do the examination.

It was only a moment when the object that Doctor Archie was holding was tapped and moved over Sarah's stomach, suddenly a strange sound echoed from the direction of Doctor Archie's computer speaker.

"Did you hear that voice, Sarah?" Doctor Archie asked Sarah, who was still looking lost in thought.

Doctor Archie smiled and then continued his speech again, without questioning Sarah who was not at all focused on his words.

"The noise that echoes is the sound of a heartbeat. One is the sound of your heartbeat and the other is the sound of another creature's heartbeat in your womb," Doctor Archie said this time managing to make Sarah look at the doctor.

"What?" Sarah asked curtly and immediately made Doctor Archie smile broadly. Doctor Archie was pleased that he had succeeded in getting Sarah to respond to his words.

"Oh, it turns out you have a good voice. Too bad if you prefer silence," said Doctor Archie, trying to lighten the mood. But Sarah didn't even pay attention to what the doctor just said. She only focused on asking about what Doctor Archie had just told her.

"What did you say about my womb?" Sarah asked.

"Ah, I'm sorry. I said earlier that there are two sounds of heartbeats resonating with each other. The louder sound is your heartbeat and the one that sounds a little slower is your baby's heartbeat," Doctor Archie explained patiently to slowly reassure Sarah.

Sarah who heard the doctor's words just now immediately covered her open mouth in disbelief.

"You are pregnant, Sarah. You are in your fifth week of pregnancy. Congratulations, you are a mother now," said Doctor Archie with a smile.

"I-I'm pregnant? Are you serious?" Sarah asked still in disbelief.

Doctor Archie smiled at Sarah's very natural expression. He likes to convey the good news to women or couples who are checking their wombs for the first time, like Gita today.

Brings good news that there is a special creature named Baby, who is present in a woman's life in her body. Doctor Archi had seen various expressions, including the one Sarah had when she announced her pregnancy.

"Yes, you are pregnant and you will become a mother," Doctor Archie repeated the happy sentence to Gita with a smile, "Let's see this!" said Doctor Archi showing something to Sarah on his computer screen.

"The one I'm showing you, this is your fetus, and it's still about the size of a sesame seed. The normal weight should be around one gram, maybe because you are hard to eat, so your fetus is a bit slow to grow,"

Doctor Archie explained while hovering the cursor on the computer screen to a small spot that was currently the center of Sarah's attention.

'Is that my baby?' Sarah said to herself. Her tears fell again holding back the sadness and happiness that were now mixed into one. Sarah still couldn't say anything more. She just went back to crying looking at the small spot in her womb, called the fetus. Hers and Alex's.

For a moment her mind was distracted from the memory of Alex because Sarah kept watching the little one who was in the same body as her. Sarah is very happy when she finds out about the presence of her love child with Alex.

Sarah begins to replay memories of her first night with Alex, followed by her cries of confusion as to the fear that pregnancy at such a young age might have set in.

Sarah burst into tears again when she realized that at that time she had mistaken the day of her period and allowed herself and Alex to have sex as often as possible without protection.

Sarah's memory of Alex's every word that time came back to tears.

Sarah cried calling Alex's name. Sarah covered her face with her palms. Within her closed eyes, Sarah continued to sob sadly at the thought of her future life.

Sarah's sadness like this of course makes Doctor Archie and also the nurse who is currently accompanying them feel sorry for Sarah.

"Suster, please take care of the patient's report along with the medicine, okay!" said the doctor to the nurse beside Sarah. But actually, the doctor only wanted to talk to Sarah in private.

The nurse agreed to the doctor's orders and left Sarah and Doctor Archie alone.

"Sarah, can you hear me?" Doctor Archie called to Sarah who immediately stopped her sobs and then turned to the doctor.

"I have heard your life story from your family. Previously, I would like to express my deepest condolences for the calamity you have experienced. May you always be given the fortitude from God to continue your life in the future,"

"Right now I want to ask as your doctor. After you know that you are pregnant. How do you feel? Are you happy?" Doctor Archie asked Sarah which made her dumbfounded.

The atmosphere became silent for a moment. Sarah seemed to be silent with a questioning look in her heart and then when Sarah turned back to the doctor, she nodded.

"Thank God. It turns out that even though you are in trouble, you are still happy and grateful for this sustenance from God,"

"Do you know, Sarah? The fetus in your body needs to develop and fetal development only comes from the mother's nutrition. So, if you want your fetus to be healthy, you must eat regularly and start living a healthy lifestyle again," the doctor advised her.

Hearing Doctor Archie's words, Sarah's eyes filled with tears again.
