Chapter 1The Beginning of Everything

Above the treacherous dark sky of the previous capital city of the fallen Dragon Empire, two mighty beings were fighting fiercely against each other. It was as if their fight had triggered the anger of the gods as the rain had been pouring down nonstop since they began.

With the help of the moonlight that was partly hidden behind the clouds, one could occasionally see the humongous shadows of a long snake-like creature and an animal with four legs and multiple tails. And each time these two shadows connected, the sky would rumble and send chills down the spine of those who were lucky enough to hear it without going deaf.

The impact of the force even caused the earth to quake under the rubble of the once marvelous city that stretched miles and miles away.

Occasionally, a tornado that comprised of a white flame and a bolt of golden lightning chasing each other would strike the ground and burn everything in the surroundings. If one were within 5 miles of the strike, one would be incinerated immediately.

This fight, which had been going on for almost three days three nights, had scared off what remaining the inhabitants there were that lived within 50 miles radius of the old capital city. In this battle of the high gods, all of their houses had been smashed to smithereens on day one.

What was left was the bare, emptied ground that was devoid of any life. It would take hundreds of years before this place could return to its former glory.

Suddenly, there was a loud roar and a huge gale of wind moved the clouds away, thus revealing the two mighty figures.

One of them was a white Eastern mythological dragon with two long horns at its temples and a small horn right in the middle of its forehead, while the other was a golden-red seven-tailed fox creature known as the kitsune.

The inch-wide golden stripes that ran from the white dragon's two long horns all the way to the end of its tail shone brightly as it roared and sent a shock wave at the golden-red kitsune, the current monarch of the Beast Clan, sending him back a few hundred meters back.

The kitsune landed down on a mountain, causing a huge crater to form where he landed.

"Empress of the Sky, surrender and pay for your crimes!!!" A loud roar could be heard from around them, which took the white dragon aback.

The white dragon circled around the sky before letting out a roar imbued with the power of sonic waves toward the sky while sending a warning, "I will never forgive you for this!!!"

She was about to say something else when she felt a strong killing intent coming toward her.

"Emperor of the Beasts." She turned sharply toward the kitsune that was heading toward her with alarmingly fast speed. There was a slight moment of hesitation before she slashed her tail in the air, sending a concentrated shock wave energy to warn the kitsune to leave.

Her roar caused her people who were fighting against various forces miles away to be taken aback.

"The empress…" A handsome man with sharp features dressed in a red robe looked toward the direction of the roar before he killed an enemy centaur warrior by chopping off the warrior's head. His hair that was originally white was stained with the blood of their enemies while his light red eyes were now blood red as he activated the full power of his dragon bloodline.

Ding, ding…

The two tiny bells hung outside his waist gave him a bad premonition, and he could not help but get distracted by the fight between the two monarchs.

"I'm going back! I have to protect her!" He sent a voice transmission to the other three generals of their army.

Just as he was about to dash off, a blinding flash of light flashed before him and a handsome man with long hair dressed in a provocative white robe that was mostly red now appeared in front of him.

While holding his sword in front with his right hand that was bleeding badly, the long-haired man yelled, "Huo Jie! The empress ordered you to stay away from her!"

"Get out of my way, Bai Yizhen!" the man named Huo Jie yelled as he pulled a sword out of the air. Holding his red, fiery sword that came with a tassel, he charged toward his teammate.

Before he could reach his teammate, however, he felt a strong killing intent coming from the side and he immediately backed off.

"Qing Yun!"

A warrior woman dressed in green with a bloody stump on her left hand glared at them while she panted heavily.

"Qing Yun! Your arm!" the man named Bai Yizhen looked on in horror. His arm wasn't in a much better state but it could be fixed, but hers, however...

"STOP IT! Everyone is trying to protect the empress and you two idiots are fighting among yourselves!" She murmured a spell and within a split second, her right hand became a thousand times bigger.

Without any warning, she swooped Huo Jie and Bai Yizhen up before throwing them into the middle of the battlefield. "Idiots!" she cursed before rushing back in herself.

All of them were willing to die. The Heavenly Emperor sought to end their empress' life, and as her guardians, no way would they stand by and watch her die.

Back in the main battleground between two of the strongest creatures in the world, the kitsune managed to block the shock wave energy with a loud, piercing bark, which was then followed by a sweep of one of his tail.

A huge 10-ft tall image of a bushy tail that was cackling with golden blue lightning was formed from the tail swing.

Charged with the power of lightning, the image of the tail nearly connected with the white dragon. Thankfully, the white dragon managed to dodge it just in time by teleporting a few miles away.

However, the teleportation, as well as the energy she lost from the prolonged fight, was starting to take a toll on her. As she ran from the kitsune, she lost control of her true form.

A ripple of light appeared around her and when it was gone, she was in the form of an alluring woman. Her white dragon scale turned into a beautiful silk-like gown that clothed her and gave her an ethereal feeling, while her deep blue eyes looked like it was carved out of the darkest lapis lazuli. The only remain of the battle was the scar on her face and the blood that was seeping out of her gown.

When she turned, her long white, silky hair that was tied with a piece of dark blue hairband seemed to be waving at someone.

"EMPRESS OF THE SKY! RETURN TO THE HEAVENS IMMEDIATELY!" A loud voice boomed from all around the two. "CEASE YOUR ATTACKS!"

"Heavenly King…" With an angry gaze, the empress looked up the sky where the dark clouds had an eerie and ominous feeling. She then turned to get away again. The Heavenly King reigned over the human, beast, and immortal realms, but he would be unable to get to her if she were in the demon realm.

Seeing that the kitsune was still pursuing her, the empress glanced back as she yelled, "Kit! Wake up!"

The kitsune roared at her before charging toward her. The kitsune's eyes were glowing with anger and confusion, and he shook his head once before he swung another tail at the now-human dragon. Similar to before, this one swing of the tail created a huge image. The difference was this image came with red lightning and was in the form of a 20-ft tall kitsune.

The empress, having been heavily weakened at her state, was unable to teleport for the second time. She was slammed by the red-lightning image and flew hundreds of miles away before she crashed into a mountain, leaving a deep human shape dent at one side of the mountain.

"ARgh!" she cried out before she vomited out blood. There was blood coming out of her nose and mouth. Even her eyes were crying tears of blood, and she was unable to see through one of her eyes. Her innards were destroyed from the impact, and even her meridians were badly damaged.

The only part of her that was unharmed was the area around her stomach, and the first thing she did upon catching her breath was to touch her stomach.

That was right.

The empress was pregnant, and like some of the dragon women before her, she chose to nurture the baby dragon in her stomach instead of birthing it now and nurturing it in its egg. She knew. She knew that at the current moment, it would be too dangerous for her to give birth now. Therefore, she had kept it a secret from everyone, including her lover.

When she was about to be hit by the image of the kitsune earlier, she knew she couldn't escape, so she focused all of her energy to form a barrier around her stomach.

Using what was left of her soul energy, she closed her eyes as she felt for the baby's presence and ensured that it was safe within her. In the Dragon Clan, it was a well-known fact that a baby dragon's soul would be formed long before its physical body was fully developed.

And the empress knew that this was happening to her baby as well. The longer a mother dragon nurtured the baby in her body, the stronger the baby would be as the baby dragon would be able to take on the mother dragon's energy and strength.

The empress pressed a hand on her stomach and whispered, "Sight."

She could see it. The bright golden-red soul with blue lightning crackling all over it. It was moving inside her rapidly as if it were able to sense the danger it was in right now.

"I'm sorry," she murmured weakly as she caressed her stomach. A tear dropped from the corner of her eyes as she looked up and saw the kitsune that was hundreds of miles away. For some reason, the kitsune was running circles in the air before it ran head on to ram into another mountain.

"Kit… Wake up…"

The empress closed her eyes as she bore with the pain. The blow earlier had given her a near-fatal blow, and knowing that it would only be a matter of minutes before the kitsune could reach her, she decided to take out the baby dragon's soul.

Using what remaining energy that she had, she dragged herself over to a flat piece of ground. When the wind blew up her tattered white robe, a pale leg was dragged behind as she moved slowly. On the path that she walked past, the ground was heavily stained by her blood.

"Disappear," she whispered and her body soon disappeared from sight, hidden from everyone's views. She knew that this wouldn't last long, not with her current condition, so she had to act fast.

Once she found a flat piece of ground, using that blood that was flowing out of her multiple wounds, she drew a round magic array that was enough for an adult to lay in. Once it was completely, a flash of white light shone brightly before it disappeared. The previously red magic array now appeared as if it were drawn with white paint.

"COME OUT NOW!"

The empress heard the angry roar of the kitsune, and she immediately stepped within the magic array.

Sitting down in the middle of the array, she then closed her eyes as she chanted a spell while her hands moved rapidly as they formed a series of complicated hand signals.

The boundary of the magic array soon lit up with white color upon being fed with the empress' aura and energy. Once the magic array was activated, she then placed both of her hands on her stomach.

Using a spell, she gently guided the tiny soul that was within her out from her stomach. "My baby's soul isn't fully formed…" she thought sadly, but there was no choice.

The Heavenly King meant to kill them, and she had to protect her baby. Even if it meant crippling her child's cultivation ability, she had to ensure her baby's safety. Even if it meant using a demonic spell...

"Send this soul to a faraway world and find her a body to survive in. Dear ancestors of my dragon clan, please look over this child in the world that she will soon be in," she thought while she looked at the soul with a painful expression.

Placing the soul down in the middle of the magic array, where it floated like a ball of bright golden light, the dragon woman then stepped out of the magic array.

With her current power, she would not be able to send both of them forward. Therefore, she decided to die in this world that had forsaken her. Furthermore, even if she had the strength, she still wouldn't be able to go with her child. This demonic spell required a sacrifice. To send someone across the dimensions and into one of the multiple worlds out there, a life had to be sacrificed.

The empress murmured a chant, and she could hear the wind around her getting troubled. The grass and tree, as well as any living beings, that were within a mile from the magic array turned into dust.

When she could hear the kitsune reaching where she was, she quickly finished the chant. "And let the world merge through this child!" she yelled as she formed a dragon's claw with her right hand and plunged it through her chest.

The moment she pulled her golden heart out, huge amount of blood sprayed out. The blood then moved and covered the magic array, thus strengthening the magic in it.

While the empress collapsed onto the floor with her heart still beating in her bloody hand, a portal was then opened in the middle, just right in front of the soul. Barely alive, she then gently nudged the soul over. As if the soul knew that it was about to lose its mother, it hesitated for a moment and moved around in circle uncertainly.

"Go…" the dragon woman said weakly as she looked at the soul of her unborn child. She then collapsed onto the floor while blood flowed steadily out of her open chest… like the stream of a river that was about to dry out.

Hearing her, the soul went through the portal. Upon sensing that someone had entered, the portal then closed immediately, sending a small shock wave out in all directions that alerted everyone, including the kitsune, Bai Yizhen, Huo Jie, and Qing Yu, within a radius of a thousand kilometers.

"Live… on… " the dragon woman smiled as she closed her eyes and went into eternal slumber.
