Chapter 34: At The Wolf Council

Rose had had no idea what to expect, but they were in a building similar to the hall she met Cade’s pack in. Pack. It still made her pause to say that. Cade was a wolf shifter and he was the Alpha of the pack.

It took away her breath.

“You okay?” Cade asked as he parked his truck in front of the building.

“Just a little overwhelmed. I’ve never seen a building so beautiful and never knew there was anything like this in the woods outside of town.”

“We like to keep it a secret.”

“I won’t say anything, and no one would believe me if I did,” Rose said, climbing out of the truck.

Cade came around and took her hand. “We can get through this.”

“So much is riding on this, Cade. What if we screw up?”

“Let’s not think about that. We care about each other, and we just have to act like things are more than they are.”

“Lie in other words.”

“Yes, but we agreed to this. Neither of us has been coerced into doing this. Are you having second thoughts?”
