The Wicked Schemes System

Benjamin was watching TV when suddenly the channel switched to breaking news.

THE GOVERNMENT HAS SENT TROOPS TO INVADE THE OCEAN!!!

That was the news headlines.

"Few days ago, humans had successfully discovered the hideout of those creatures called mermaids. The government has sent thousands of warships and submarines to the mermaid kingdom and as I speak to you, there is an ongoing war between the mermaids and us humans."

Hearing what was going on, Benjamin's heart skipped a beat!

There is another ongoing war between Humans and the mermaids? This time the humans had discovered the mermaids hideout?

After a few minutes later, the news then switched and played the scenes of what was happening in the ocean. Benjamin could see a very tall castle in the ocean, and looking clearly he was able to spot some of the mermaids holding strange weapons that fired magical energies.

In the ocean the Humans were firing missiles at the castle and many dead mermaids could be seen floating in the water.

The battle was completely one sided since the mermaids were never prepared for any battle.

The TV kept on broadcasting the ongoing war for more than 30 minutes until all the magic creatures known as mermaids were destroyed in the ocean!

Looking at the screen, Benjamin felt goosebumps all over his body. The sight of mermaids being destroyed was terrifying for Benjamin to watch.

After the short broadcast Benjamin turned off the TV, he didn't feel like watching TV anymore. How can people be this cruel to each other?

Benjamin then recalled that his mother had told him he had an emergency meeting at work an hour ago but she had not come home yet.

Suddenly, Benjamin Reed's mother entered the room!

However she didn't enter through the front gate, she somehow materialized right into the building. She was holding her stomach and she seemed to be crying in agony.

"Benjamin,...."

She crawled on the floor and stopped right in front of him. "There's something that I need to tell you."

At the sight of this, Benjamin quivered. He reached his mother and held her in his arms.

"Mom! What happened to you?"

She breathed loudly as she said to him in a very weak voice. "Benjamin, that is not important, I have to show you something."

She rolled herself on the ground several times before she removed a necklace from her neck, just then, Benjamin saw something that made his jaw drop.

His mother's legs vanished and instead what replaced it was a fish tail!

She also had a fist size hole in her mermaid tail when she transformed.

His mother, in great pain, managed to speak through her bloodied lips. " … I am the queen of the mermaid kingdom, I tried to tell you this several times but I didn't know how to let you know. I'm not a human and so are you. You are a hybrid"

"Wait, what? You're a mermaid? But you told me you were going to an emergency meeting, and now you look different. Please, Mom, explain to me what is happening, I'm a hybrid?" Benjamin pleaded, his voice filled with confusion and longing for answers.

"You need to listen carefully, this place is no longer safe for as anymore. The humans know that I'm here and they will be here soon… I have called someone to come and get you to somewhere safer…."

Before she could finish her sentence, her body became stiff.

Benjamin looked at his mother waiting for her to tell him more of what was actually happening. But then he waited until he found out she was no longer alive!

She was dead!

Benjamin glared at his own mother with hate. Then he burst into tears.

Why?

His mother had died just like that telling him a soul crashing truth. How is he going to cope with life knowing that he is not a human anymore?

Benjamin was sleeping closer to his mother when suddenly someone tapped him on the shoulders.

"Hello!"

Benjamin turned around, only to see a mermaid-like creature of the same age as him squirming closer to him. Her tail resembled that of a serpent, with hard, sharp scales. Despite her intimidating appearance, she wore a polite smile on her face.

Benjamin's eyes widened as he witnessed her transformation from a beast-like creature to a stunning human girl with legs however she was naked! Despite her being naked she seemed completely unaffected.

"Benjamin, right? I'm Vannesa."

Benjamin looked at her in shock. "Who are you? What do you want? Why are you here?"

A flicker of hurt crossed Vanessa's face before she composed herself. "I'm here to take you to the Siren Kingdom, where you will be safe."

Benjamin scoffed, his arms crossed defiantly. "No. I'm not going anywhere," he declared, determined to stand his ground.

Vanessa's eyes widened with urgency. "If we don't go, the humans will kill us."

Benjamin's resolve wavered, but he maintained his icy demeanor. "Let them. I already look like a human. They won't kill me," he retorted, his voice dripping with bitterness.

Unable to contain her frustration, Vanessa grabbed Benjamin by the shoulders and shook him forcefully. "Do you think the war was a joke? These humans are not fools. They know we can shift like them. Do you think they won't recognize that you are part of our world?"

Vanessa brought out a strange necklace and hung it around Benjamin's neck. "This will help you breathe underwater. Now I'm taking you to my mother in the hidden part of the ocean,"

Since Benjamin Reeds and his mother stayed on the beach, the distance between their house and the sea was very little.

Suddenly, Benjamin felt a sudden strong explosive tidal wave coming from the skies.

Benjamin and Vannesa heard the sound of numerous explosions in the sky as well. Knowing this, Vanessa grabbed Benjamin and rushed him straight into the ocean.

Unbeknownst to them that it was a special gas that the government has released to wipe out all the memories people had about that war. The gas works in a way that no one will remember that the mermaids even existed.

Benjamin and Vanessa traveled through the vast ocean for two days, their surroundings filled with the mysteries of the deep until they reached the siren kingdom.

As Benjamin's body adjusted to the underwater environment, his senses were overwhelmed by the sight of a colossal city in the middle of the ocean.

The buildings were crafted with pure crystals, reflecting a dazzling array of colors. The inhabitants of the city were of the same species as Vanessa, with scales covering their bodies. Compared to traditional mermaids, these creatures had a more formidable and awe-inspiring appearance. Their tails are longer and look like that of a serpent with sharp scales at the edges of the tail.

Looking at the sirens Benjamin gulped. They even had long sharp fangs and their appearance made him have chills.

They looked like predators.

In fact they are.

Vannesa came to a stop in a very obscure house, the building was massive and grand in appearance.

Once they were inside Benjamin was greeted with the sight of numerous creatures in the resemblance of mermaids, just that the creature looked taller and their skin was blue unlike the Sirens they were much taller. They were called Girdocks.

They had fangs and very sharp nails.

They looked at Benjamin strangely as though he was a food to them.

Benjamin felt many of the creatures glaring at him mischievously.

He couldn't help but ask. "Where is this place?"

Vannesa increased her speed as she evades the creatures. "This place is my home."

She took Benjamin to a strange room. That's when their traveling was completed.

"Vannesa, who are you people?"

"That's not important right now. Please stay quiet, don't go anywhere, I need to talk to my mother about you. If she doesn't agree we have to take you to a different place. Until then don't go anywhere"

Glancing around the room, Benjamin couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. The strange designs and unfamiliar surroundings made him hesitant to stay alone. He found the room to be eerie and unsettling, unable to put into words the emotions swirling within him.

"Don't go. I can't stay here alone," Benjamin pleaded, his voice filled with a mix of fear and vulnerability.

Vanessa turned to face him, "Benjamin, I will be back. Just stay here for a while. You'll be safe in this room."

Benjamin watched as Vannesa swam out of the room with an incredible speed.

Alone, his mind reflected on everything that had just happened. He couldn't believe that he was actually staying in the ocean right now. He held unto the special necklace that Vanessa gave him.

It was amazing! How can just a necklace make him breathe underwater?

He looked around the room but never saw anything he was familiar with. Everything in the room was new to him.

The only thing he found familiar was a door at the corner of the room. What shocked him was that the door was made with pure metals.

He swam closer to have a closer look. At least this will get him distracted.

Just then, he heard a faint voice calling his name from the door.

"Benjamin…"

He paused, straining to listen. The voice seemed to come from a woman, though it was muffled and difficult to discern he felt Intrigued to find who called him.

"Benjamin…"

The voice called to him again, clearer this time. Convinced that it was Vanessa calling for him, he followed the sound, and touched the door.

Automatically, the door opened!

"Benjamin…"

The allure of the whispers was overpowering, and Benjamin found himself unable to resist the urge. He felt compelled as if he had been controlled.

He swam through the door and entered the room.

The room lit up as soon as Benjamin Reeds entered.

He gulped at the sight of a long sword locked inside a glass cage.The sword was deep black and the hilt of the sword had strange symbols engraved on it.

Amazed at the sight of such an antique item Benjamin wanted to touch it, but then he felt a hand tapping on his shoulders.

He panicked.

"Benjamin! What are you doing here?" Vanessa pulled him away from the sword.

"Benjamin, how did you enter this room? No one in this kingdom has the keys to this room. How did you enter?" Vannesa asks, shocked colored on her face. How can someone from outside their kingdom just enter their secret room?

Benjamin looked sideways but couldn't find a better explanation. "It just opened for me."

Vannesa pulled Benjamin further away until he was no longer close to the long black sword.

"Benjamin, let's get out of this room."

"Why, please tell me. Why should I get out of here." Benjamin asked, his gaze still kept on the sword.

Vannesa sighed and tried to explain everything to him. "This sword over there is the Prison to the legendary creature known as Trigon…

"The legend says that the one to touch that sword would be bound to it, and he will free Trigon from his prison. From this notice you should never come to this room again."

Benjamin looked at Vanessa with a confusion in his eyes, everything Vanessa had told him was like a fairy tail to him.

Trigon, prison…

He felt like Vannesa was only lying to him as though he was hiding something great from him.

He recalled his mother's death. He knew that whenever he gets the chance he could get stronger to take vengeance for her. Only that will make him happy on earth.

Looking at the long black sword that has been locked inside the glass case, Benjamin felt a sudden impulse to touch it.

"No Vannesa, I don't trust you. It will definitely make me stronger.

Benjamin swam closer to the sword. He opened the cabinet and in a matter of seconds Benjamin found his hands holding the long black sword!

Vannesa screamed in pain seeing Benjamin Reeds holding the sword. "Drop it, else you will free the Trigon..."

Benjamin took the sword and began to swing it playfully.

However his hands slipped from the hilt and his hands accidentally slid against the blade of the sword, causing him to have a deep cut on his palm.

Suddenly, Benjamin had a strange feeling in his chest.

He then heard the voice that he heard earlier.

"Thank you… for offering me your body…."

Benjamin felt a sudden change in his body. He felt as though something huge was entering his body.

Then after that feeling ended, his hands started growing and extending. He started growing big. He groaned as his body grew in height and size. He tore through his skin and out came a dark green fur that suddenly covered his body.

His fingers grew and extended into claws then his teeth grew into fangs and his eyes changed colour into glowing green!

"No…" he looked at his dark green hand and touched his once handsome face but was disappointed when his hands touched fur!

He looked at himself again and felt a sudden raging anger boiling out of his heart. That was when he remembered the words Vannesa had said to him earlier.

Knowing that he is no longer a half mermaid, he realized that there was nothing to live for anymore.

Looking sideways, he spotted the sword that turned him into the monster. He reached for it thinking that he would be transformed back to his previous form but that didn't happen.

His mind could not rest, his heart heaved with pain. He raised the sword in the air and stabbed himself.

After an unknown amount of time Benjamin regained his consciousness but found himself In a very dark green jungle.

All he saw was the wild scenery of a forest.

He tried to think, but he couldn't. All he felt was the animalistic instincts that was trying to break free.

He heard the faint noise coming from a distance away. As he continued to listen, he realized it was the familiar voice of humans.

He discreetly neared them, that's when he realized those people were soldiers training in their camp!

Looking at them he felt a sudden rage boiling from within his heart. These people looked just like the once that destroyed countless lives in the ocean!

…

Inside one building, there were a lot of military men sitting around a table as they discussed their strategy on how to invade the ocean the second time.

"Guys, did you remember what happened last time?" One of them asked as he gulped down his wine.

"Noo. What happened?"

The person who asked seemed to be older than the rest of his comrades. "Well this year marks the date the government ordered us to kill all the mermaid creatures in the ocean."

Another said. "Those creatures were disgusting… We had to literally send missiles to their kingdom in the ocean. Believe me it was a tough war. One of the mermaids seems to be the queen or some sort. Man, she took four nuclear weapons alone but didn't die, she fled from the ocean to the land leaving the rest of her people to be captured.."

Many people laughed while listening to this. "So she was that powerful, I heard they found her dead body a few days after that."

"Yes. Pitiful creatures…"

Hearing this caused Benjamin's animalistic instincts to take over. He roared until he reached the room where all the soldiers were gathered.

The smell of flesh was so intoxicating for Benjamin to resist. The more Benjamin stood closer to the room the more hungry he became!

He roared and barged through the front gate!

He threw himself on them and began to feed himself with the flesh of the soldiers.

Gun fired. It merely did anything to him. Blood oozed out of everywhere. With every movement Benjamin made, he tore a head or either a torso off of its normal position.

The very last thing they all saw was a blur of green light before something hot and fierce pierced through their hearts.

Their guns were helpless against that mighty Beast because their bullets were like toilet paper to him. Everytime they fired at the beast, the bullet would bounce back. With no defense against the beast, he tore through more than fifteen soldiers killing each and every single one of them.

It was left with only four men standing at the edge of the room with their legs shaking, then one stuck his hands inside a bag and revealed a new set of weapons that has never been used before in the world.

The men's horrified faces returned to a happy grin as they aimed their guns. It was a freezing gun. With this last defense in their hands they fired all their last at it.

The beast's movements slowed every time he got hit by the ice bullets. Then suddenly all the four men seized up the moment. They completely froze Benjamin Reeds in ice.

"Nailed it."

"Guys what do we do with this creature?" One of the soldiers asked as he looked at Benjamin who was frozen in ice.

"We need to report this to the Government"

Having been in the icy for one full minute, the beast gnawed his teething and began to struggle to get freedom.

The sight of the breathing human soldiers was just an insult to him. He had to kill them all, only that would make the beast satisfied.

The beast moved out from the ice and that was when he was able to finally break free.

The beast zoomed into their direction, with speed akin to that of a vampire and with his sharp claws he peeled off their fleshy skin like how bears tore through things.

He had killed almost all of them. He raised his hands up high to chop the head of his last victims then out of the blues, he heard a familiar voice..

"Benjamin Reeds stop!…."

Perhaps the voice was unfamiliar. It was the voice of a woman.

The beast stood still, motionless as it turned around to see the person that called his name. That person must have known him before he turned to the beast.

The person came to stand in front of him directly. First he noticed the black dress she wore with an apron tied up around her waist. He then continued his gaze up to see who she was.

And just as he was about to notice her face, thousands of bullets rushed his direction, making a few ten of them tear through the innocent lady's body.

His heart boiled after seeing that, exactly how his race died. When he looked around, he noticed a feeble man on the ground with his right arm missing, as he held the Ak47 with his other hand before dying.

Blood came gushing out of the holes in her body. The bullets did not spare her innocent body. It tore her skin in a way that was very similar to the men killed by that beast.

But when he got closer he heard her heart still beating.

"Benjamin, my daughter told me everything… We came here on a mission to find out what these soldiers were planning. They were about to invade the ocean again...P, p,please take care of my daughter."

As soon as she said that the woman died!
