Chapter 11. Attack The Doctor

A woman is sitting next to a dying patient. He was battling the disease that had been attacking his body. He's out of time. He will meet his death.

"Judy, how's Levi?" the man asked in a weak voice.

"He is fine. He misses you, Shane," said the woman named Judy.

Shane smiled. "Tell him I miss him too. I'm sorry, I probably won't make it to the baseball game. I'm really sorry."

"It's okay, Shane. I'll tell him," Judy said with tears in her eyes.

"Judy, please don't cry. I will not calmly leave this world if you are sad."

Judy shook her head. "I'm fine."

"You must be able to raise Levi well. Sorry that I can't accompany you."

Shane took a deep breath. The oxygen level in his body is decreasing.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door from outside. Then the door opened. A doctor and nurse entered the room carrying an injection.

Judy knew it was a lethal injection. There was nothing they could do to cure her husband. Shane's illness was severe, and he would soon die.

Judy took a few steps back, shaking her head. She covered her face as tears continued to roll down her cheeks.

"Good evening, Shane. Are you ready?" the doctor asked.

Shane said nothing. He turned to Judy, holding out his hand.

"I love you, Judy," Shane said.

Suddenly, the doctor injected the fluid into his vein. Shane's breath hitched.

Shane widened his eyes while opening his mouth. He wanted to scream, but no sound came out.

His eyes became blurry. He wanted to ask for help, but the doctor and nurse tied him tightly with a rope.

"Mam, please sign over here," the nurse said to his wife.

Judy nodded and then signed some documents.

"Is he okay?" Judy asked.

"Yes, of course," replied the nurse with a smile. "Do not worry. We're doing this for Mr O'Brien's shake."

Judy nodded, then the nurse told her to get out of the room. She turned back at her husband, looking at him with a tortured face.

"I love you too, Shane," said Judy, wiping her tears.

Judy sighed and then got out of there. A fully armed officer flanked Judy and then led her to a car. They also take Judy to Cruzwell because they will quarantine Judy and Levi.

"Judy …," Shane said quietly.

Shane's whole body was in so much pain that it was hard to breathe. Shane reminded himself to live, but it was so hard.

The doctor looked at the monitor beside him and then jotted down something on his tab.

"It looks like the serum is working," the doctor said to the nurse.

"Congratulations," the nurse said with a smile.

Not long after, Shane felt his soul separated from his body. He arched his body as he shouted.

"Give him a sedative!" the doctor ordered.

The nurse rushed to get the medicine from the drawer. She was about to inject it into Shane, but it was too late. Shane managed to pull the rope that tied him. The rope slapped the nurse until she fell to the floor.

The injection slipped out of his hand, and then Shane sat up screaming. The veins on his skin were clear, and his eyes turned white.

An officer immediately entered the room while pointing a gun at Shane.

"Raise your hand!" shouted the officer.

Shane wasn't listening; he managed to get out of bed and attack the doctor. He bit the doctor's neck and then ate the flesh. He sucked the doctor's blood until he was unconscious.

The nurse screamed and then fled from there.

The doctor fell to the floor, and Shane kept biting his face and chest. The officer shot him several times, but Shane only fell for a moment.

Shane got up and then ran to attack the officer. He grabbed the gun, but the officer restrained him.

The gun managed to hit the roof several times. Finally, Shane managed to grab the gun and throw it far away.

Shane growled and then pounced on the officer. He ate so satisfied that he thought there was nothing left of the human.

Shane came out of the room with his face and body covered in blood. He ran and made people scared to see him. He growled and chased after all of them who were running.

The doctor who Shane had bitten crawled out of the room. "Help. Help me."

A nurse approached him and crouched down next to him. "Are you okay?"

The doctor turned around and made the nurse scream in terror. She backed away while pressing her back against the wall.

"What happened to you?!"

"That patient … that patient attacked me … You have to find him. He … he is very dangerous," said the doctor.

Then he choked and vomited blood from his mouth. He clutched his neck as he groaned in pain.

"Help me …," he said.

Suddenly, the doctor arched his body in an inappropriate position. There was a rattling sound, and then the doctor shouted.

The nurse walked away, panting. She held her chest while being frightened.

The doctor opened his white eyes. Then he stretched out his hand to attack the nurse.

"Aaarrrgghh!" the nurse shouted as she ran, but it was too late.

The doctor managed to pull the nurse's leg until she fell to the floor. He pulled the nurse over with a grin.

He looked hideous with a disfigured face, then a bleeding neck and chest. The nurse was crying and screaming.

"Help! Please, don't eat me. Please! HELP! HELP!"

The nurse's screams echoed down the halls of the hospital, but there was no one to help her.

OLD-WORLD EXTRA

{Check out my new novel, Misunderstood Villain: Heroines Mourn My Death} 'Born In Ruins' was a forgettable read. That was the only way Emir could describe the pages of the novel he had found himself reincarnated into. The young man barely knew anything, but the snippets he had recalled only caused him unending sorrow... As what awaited him was only tragedy and an early death. It was a depressing story, one that he had planned to flip on its head—all for his salvation. — In this post-apocalyptic world, monsters fought humans and cyborgs in a battle for survival on a scale greater than ever before. A world where innocence and death were a luxury, where the line between heroes and villains was razor-thin. Within its expanse, 'Ancient Clans,' 'Galactic Federations,' 'Factions', and 'Corporations' presided over colossal 'Ruins' that dwarfed the concept of life itself. Survivors of the 'Third World War' continuously dove into the 'Old World,' 'Hunting' for 'Relics' in any ruin that they could find on Earth, desperate to reclaim 'Lost' technology, to stand a fighting chance against the inevitable. But it appeared that 'Earthkind' had met their match. …However, Emir would never allow that fate to take its course. — Emir unraveled layers of the tale and realized the truth of the world. He acquainted himself with the rules of this game before it fully consumed him. And now... no longer content with mere survival, he sought to dominate over the very fabric of this unforgiving universe. Emir shall rise from the pawn he once was, seeking to unravel the mysteries that hounded him. The boundaries of 'Aether,' his father’s disappearance, the noose hanging above his family’s head, and of course… his starless destiny, a fate he longed to control. This pursuit would earn him the epithet: "Prince Of The Fallen." ---------------------------------------------- *Tags: Reincarnation ;), Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Magical Realism, Academy (Volume 3), Romance, Apocalypse, {Anti-Hero. Villain.} *Expect this novel to start slowly; it begins ramping up at the halfway point of volume 1. *The Magic System is introduced at the end of volume 1, read my review and Auxiliary chapter for more on that. *Warning: The main characters have emotions like proper humans. So don't expect your usual emo kid as the MC and come complaining later.
