Prince Conrad's POV
"Why in the hell are we wearing these fcking hoodies?" I asked Connor again on the nth time. I regret asking him for help because of his childhood act.
"Plainly because I just want you to look stupid." He answered as I heard Colten laughed beside me. We tried our best to hide from my Princess and from that moron, also known as Philip.
"Why did you come along, little brat?" I asked Colten, who became serious all of a sudden.
"Because I know we will play hide and seek." He answered. "I want to play with you, Conrad." He added. I mentally slapped my forehead.
"We're playing hide and follow, not hide and seek." Connor corrected him.
"We're not playing, idiots." I said angrily as I tried to calm and remind myself that these two idiots are my brothers. "Will you two take this seriously?" I asked them.
"We're taking it seriously, idiot." Connor dared to talk back.
I growled at him, but he just looked at me boringly. "I'm still your Alpha." I reminded him.
"I know, Alpha. I haven't forgotten yet, but please tone down your voice." He said plainly. My jaw dropped the way he dismissed my superiority.
"Lili looks calm around him." I heard Colten said nonsense things. What a young brat knows about being calm? I focused my attention on them. They're going upstairs.
I perked up to where I was sitting when I saw my wife taking that bastard's hand. I was about to run to them when someone grabbed my hoody from behind that made me choked. "What the fck Connor!?" I asked as I coughed.
"Calm down, will you? He's just helping her out." He explained.
"I know, but I don't want that guy to touch my wife!" I said furiously.
"I understand, big brother. However, once you lose your temper our disguise and our effort of following them will be gone for nothing." He explained further.
I inhaled, exhaled, and tried to calm myself. I cautiously brushed my fingers on my hair because of frustration. They just started on their activity for today, but I felt like doing this is torture to us both of my wolf.
We followed them until they reached the rooftop of the tallest tower of our castle. I didn't know that she knows this place.
"I think my last mission is you, Lili." He said while looking around. "I will never be happy again because my happiness died with her. I will make sure you'll be happy." I heard Philip said to my Princess, but I wasn't able to hear her answer.
"What does he mean by that?" Connor asked the same question popping out of my head. They stayed there for few more minutes until they decided to go to the library.
We heard them talking about different books while they're at the library. They were sharing thoughts about the same book they read and other books that they haven't read yet. "I didn't know that Prince Philip is a bookworm like Lili." Connor stated.
"While our brother hates the book." Colten mentioned. "Conrad, you're—" I shut him a death glare that made him stopped from blabbering. "You're not her ideal man." But he fired it away despite my threat to him. Why I cannot tame these two?
"You're pissing me off. You'll shut up, or I will toss you out." I said as I greeted my teeth in anger.
"My husband took me downtown one time to buy books." I heard my Princess said. Did she just call me her husband?
"You're smiling like a lunatic, brother." Connor suddenly interrupted my delightfulness by his insolent remark.
"Shut the hell up." I whispered at him as he chuckled. He's enjoying this. Damn it. Three days will be hell.
Princess Liviana's POV
The next day, we went downtown. He wanted to look for books and look at the busy market.
When we were kids, we tried to sneak going to the market, but my foster mother caught us. Now we're free to go wherever we want. "These books are ancient." He said as he removes the dust from his hands. I chuckled as I remember that he's a hygienic person. "However, these are the books that the new generation failed to read. I would love to read each one of these." He said as he grabs several books.
"Is there any chance that you'll find someone to fill in your heart? I mean, the last time we've talked you told me that now, you have the freedom to choose whoever you want, right?" I asked, curiously.
"Well, yes. I have freedom now. However, I will still choose her. My heart is still full, she's always in my heart." He answered. "Furthermore, I know that Conrad can hear our conversation that's why I said those things."
"What? You're provoking him?" I said, surprised.
He chuckled. "Yes, and it worked well. Mate is a very strong bond that even death cannot take it away from you. Even your mate passed away, you cannot just simply love someone else and replace her. Mates are inseparable." He explained. "That's why I don't have the intention of taking you away from your husband, I know the feeling of losing someone more important than your own life." He said while smiling sadly.
Until today, I never imagine that having a soul mate in your life is more important than someone's life. I thought that soul mate is just an image created by someone hopeless of romance. Now I know how important and special it is to everyone.
"I wonder the feeling of having a soul mate." I said. "I wonder if I have a soul mate."
Philip looked at me, puzzled. "You do have, Lili." He declared.
"Really? I mean, how do I know if it's him?" I asked.
"Conrad." He announced.
"What do you mean?" This time I'm the one who looked at him, puzzled.
"He's your mate. Didn't he tell you yet?" He asked. My jaw dropped as my heart beats peculiarly. "Oh no. I didn't mean to tell you first." He said apologetically.
I tried to calm myself as I remembered I heard someone spoke the word mate while he was hugging me. Is that it? But, how this happened?
"How did you know that I'm his mate?" I asked him.
"He told me." He answered.
"So, he knew from the very beginning." I blurted out. I felt my hands trembling, but I don't know why. "Philip, please tell me more about soul mate." I asked him. He nodded, then leads me to the available seats on the corner of the book store.
