Chapter 5

I look at the results of my experiment and I am sure that the experiment was a great success.

I rest my hand on a large container filled with hundreds of gallons of my blood and think.

My theory was that my blood, which possesses numerous miraculous abilities such as healing and creating a huge amount of copies of the Astartes gene seed, can conversely devolve and severely mutate the subject under the right circumstances.

So I took a few of the worst criminals and injected them with a tiny bit of my blood, less than a drop to see the results on a living subject.

After five minutes, one of the subjects died. Blood and black liquid began to ooze from all his openings, and he shriveled up like a mummy.

In the following minutes, three more met the same fate.

By the ten minute mark, the remaining subjects began to show signs of mutation. Changes in body proportions. Appearance of extra limbs and eyes. And the unfortunate creation of festering ulcers. Each subject showed a different mutation.

Minutes after they began to mutate, the subjects who had the most bizarre mutations, such as exaggerating limb growth or expelling acid that injured them, sadly died.

It's time for the second experiment to begin, injecting a serum I created from my own blood into an ordinary subject.

There is only one subject left, I approach him and see that he is absolutely terrified and iced in the place, with one thought I close his mouth, I don't want to hear pleas for mercy from the worst bastard.

I take an injection full of blue liquid and inject it into the subject, slowly withdraw from the subject and see the results.

For a few seconds, nothing happened, and then the subject started writhing and rolling on the floor, then his face contorted and his eyes rolled.

The subject started to hit his head up and down.

The subject became swollen. He grew so fast that he tripled his body mass.

I could only wonder where he got the mass for that.

Approaching him and putting my hands on his head, I felt that something was wrong.

His heart is still beating, but I think he is functionally without a brain, I look a little closer at the brain and see that his nervous tissue is a degenerate mutation permeated with a mush of gray matter.

I look at the subject's soul and realize that his soul is gone, lost far away from his body.

The test subject was now huge, , and his body just continued to grow and mutate into hideous mutations.

The body was now half normal and half monstrously deformed.

The creature turned its hideous head and just looked at me, staring at me with its dead eyes.

I look at the creature and say "What's your name?"

"Changer of Ways! Changer of Ways! Changer of Ways!" The creature roared every word maniacally.

"Lies, what is your real name?" I ask again.

"N̴̢̪̗̰͎͉̞̰͎̘͕̣̓̅͊̃̎̍͌̉͒̿̃͛͋̈̃̕͘͜͝ͅâ̸̢̜͕̗̠̞̰͖̣͔̲͚̊̈ͅģ̸̮̱̥͙͔̩̻̬̹̞͚̞̱̫̭̬͍̫͉̳̓̿̈̂͗̚ͅh̵̨̡̹̪̘͔͙͎͖̮̮̗̣̫͍̿͊̔̇̌̀͋̌̽̚̚͜͝͝ŗ̴̢̛̘̲͇̣̩͚̺̦̪̬̯̘̻͎͈̥̪̗̝͙̦̈͊̑̈̎̓́̏̐̔̓͋̃̏́j̸̧̝̟͕̮̼̞̋̏̈́̐͌͑̄̇́̑̍̓́͛͒̌͒͘͝͠͝k̷̡̟̤̭̮̟̗̬̦̹͉̳̘͎̭̙̹̻̭̝̹͕̓̌͋̋̊̌̈́͆́̄̓̐́́̿͋̕s̴͍͓̲͇̼͇̗̫̲͈̯̘̣̣̈̋̿̿̊̓͆̑͗̿͒̚͘ḃ̷̨̖͈͎̯͙͖̻͇͕̲͎̥̼̽̾̐̿͗͆̃̑̍͌̑̇̂͜͝͝ḩ̷̥̬̗̙̞̖̮̺̥̣̞̰̾͛͑̋̈́̐̕͘͜r̵̜̐͊͌͠r̵̡̨̨̛̜͕͉̹̥̖̗̥͖̞͖̘̪͈̈̄͋̊̑̎͐̿͒̀͒́̈́̋̀̕͜͝ḩ̸̡͖̦͓̹̘̖̘͍͖̞̝̩̠̤͉̭͍̳̺͚̘̀̍̓̽ "

The creature only uttered that word before it started to scream and then just ignited in a blue fire that quickly burned and turned the body into ash.

My second experiment seems to have completely failed, it seems impossible to combine my anathema force with chaos corruption.

I'm just entering the results into my dataslate and shaking my head, I'll try to repeat the experiment in the near future.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(a few days later)

When I saw my first Thunder Warrior, I saw all their flaws. They were good... But they were made to die. They weren't perfect, like my Primarch, like my Space Marines would be. I saw all the imperfections, all the ways their muscles would break their bones, how their biology deteriorated under the pressure of metabolism. I saw one of them throw himself off the edge of the terrace, thrashing to death miles below as he tried to fight an enemy that wasn't there.

Increased strength and endurance and rage, but at the cost of so many other systems, increasing damage to themselves and constant microtearing from muscles that were underdeveloped until the limbs were literally tearing themselves apart from the constant stress and damage inflicted on them, and what was wrong with that immune system disaster, it could survive a thousand bioweapons but drop dead from the wrong mundane bacteria.

The Thunder Warrior lying before me was at the end. All those alchemical augmentations, muscle transplants, graphene embedded in his bones... All of that wouldn't save his life. Another scream snapped me out of my thoughts as the gene-forgers raced around.

I came up with several solutions including chemicals, tailored retro-viruses, I even thought of my Psyker powers but I came up with a beter solution.

I decided to use the space marine gene seed to heal them, the process was to throw out the excess power boosters and replace these other segments with improved repair systems, purge the adrenaline and reduce the intake of the production systems by a quarter, seal the ruptured organs to clean up the poison and melt the fluids that they leak into raw material for rebuilding elsewhere.

The last part was to clean the proteins that break down the vital cranial substance, then look for holes in the system and encourage the development of replacements, then facilitate the memories and functions lost back from their immaterial mirror.

A few subjects died on the table as I tried to figure out the right way to incorporate the genetic improvements.

I stare at the new and improvement Thunder Warrior and a look proud crosses my face.

"Wake him up" I say to the she gene smith standing next to me.

"Yes, my lord," she says.

She turns off the anesthesia and I watch as the thunder warrior wakes up, I look and see that he no longer has the crazy rage and instability that characterizes them.

"How are you feeling, I ask" I ask.

"I feel very well master, better than before. I don't feel any anger or pain anywhere".

The experiment worked, I think as a laugh crosses my face.
