Mythical Blood Sucking Creature

~•Amara•~

"Are you okay?" He spoke up, his words laced with concern.

"Yeah!" I let out an incoherent mumble as I tried to divert my gaze to somewhere else. I was fine with looking at anything which was not his face.

"Are you sure?" I heard him speak once again. Only this time his words were more clear, as if they were being spoken right next to my ear. I wanted to confirm my suspicion, but I was in no condition to do it. I lacked the strength to do so, as I didn't want to end up staring back into his eyes.

"Y-ye…" I was about to force out a yes through my clenched jaw, but half of the letters got stuck inside my throat as I felt something being pressed against the back of my head. It didn't take me long to realize that it was his palm on the back of my hand.

"Does it hurt here?" He asked me as he applied some pressure at the back of my head.

I shook my head sideways in response. I was about to tell him that I was completely fine and that it didn't really hurt. But instead of words a loud yelp made its way through my lips.

"Are you crazy?" I swatted his hand away and rubbed the back of his head while scowling at the man before me. "Why would you use that much force?"

"I heard someone saying that it was okay. I was just making sure that you are alright." He gave me an are-you-kidding-me look.

And just like that I was put into the shoes of a bully when I had barely questioned the man's intentions. It was his palm after all which made me wince in pain.

"I'm so…"

"Let me have a look."

Once again, he cut through my words and had his say. Not waiting for my answer, he put an arm around my shoulder and pulled me close to himself. While keeping his arm in its place, he turned me around so that he could look at the back of my head.

His hand which was resting on my shoulder earlier, was now draped around my lower back as he held me in place. Bringing his other hand up to the side of my head, he began to move the locks of my hair.

I couldn't describe the feeling which was crawling up my back as his fingers ran through my scalp. But it sure felt weird as my breath kept hitching every time his fingers made a contact with my scalp.

"I told you it's okay." I muttered out. I wanted nothing more than to put some distance in between our bodies. But who knew that my words would only bring more trouble for me as it only resulted in him tightening his hold around my waist with my side resting on his body.

"It didn't sound like you were okay when you yelped in pain." He mocked my words as his fingers continued to search for the injury. "There is it." He added as his fingers moved in a circular motion over my scalp.

"What?" I questioned him as I tried to move around, only to be scolded again.

"Don't move!"

His words were laced with anger which only made me freeze in my spot as I decided to comply with his orders. It was better to act like a robot rather than tolerating his rage.

"This is what I was talking about." He added as he applied some pressure on my scalp.

"Owww!" I wasn't as loud as the last time I saw it coming my way. More like, I was anticipating for him to do something like this, and hence I was able to control my emotions. But I had to accept that it indeed hurt like hell.

"There's a small bump here, nothing serious." He spoke as he moved his fingers out of my hair.

"I told you that I was fine." I spat back in response. I turned myself around a little so that I could have a better look at his face. This time, he let me move around but didn't move his arm away which was resting around my waist.

"You are not fine. It's better to get the nurse to put something on it." He muttered above my head.

I tilted my head to have a better look at him. Even though I was taller than most of the girls here, he still seemed taller to me.

"It will be fine soon. Are you forgetting the fact that I am not a human being?" I questioned him as I raised my eyebrows.

What was with this man and sick? More specifically, what was with him pushing me into the sick room?

"Nope, we are going to make a short detour to the sick room before going to our class." He refused to give in.

"It will heal sooner or later." I spoke up in protest. There was no way I was going to let him have things his way every time something came up. How was our friendship supposed to last like this?

"You are an angel, not some mythical blood sucking creature." He shook his head in a no refusing to give into my demands.

"You can heal your injuries, but it still takes some time. And yours truly here refuses to see you in any sort of discomfort." He added the latter part while pointing the index finger of his free hand towards his face.

"Alright, mister. Let's go and get done with this." I raised my hand up in the air as I gave up on arguing with him. It was utterly useless because I knew he wouldn't listen to me. He sure was one stubborn fella.

"That's the spirit." The unmoved expression on his face was finally taken over by his usual carefree smile.

"I doubt you have a thing for the nurse there." I added as we began to walk back towards the main muddy trail.
