Sagiri's Cursed Energy

It's been about two months since I've discovered the secret to raising my cursed energy. Now, I am a six-year-old Second Grade Cursed Spirit. It's the year 856, so I still have over a thousand years until canon starts; not like I need to worry about it anyway.

Emperor Montoku has been going through a health crisis ever since rumors of evil spirits walking on Earth appeared. I'm sure that the guy has heard of cursed spirits being real, considering his clan is full of Jujutsu Sorcerers.

The reason Montoku's health is so bad is probably from a new curse that was born in the royal family, which is targeting him.

But that is also not my problem either. His son, Fujiwara Seiwa, will definitely take over the throne in the next couple of years. That also reminds me that the Fujiwara are becoming a massive problem that keeps growing.

The clan is being led by Fujiwara no Yoshifusa, who is a high-ranking official in the imperial court. Yoshifusa holds the position of imperial regent, known as sessho, and effectively acts as the de facto ruler of Japan.

This is also why not many people respect Montoku, as he acts like a puppet who sits on a paper throne. And by not many people, I mean every Jujutsu Sorcerer hates the guy. They go against the principles of Jujutsu itself.

That's why tension has been so high between the Fujiwara Clan, Royal family, and other clans. Jujutsu Sorcerers are the ones most pissed off by this political arrangement.

They probably are thinking, 'How could this incompetent weakling have the position as my emperor!'

Of course, how could the Fujiwara Clan easily give an explanation for a puppet on the throne? The citizens have been silent since it's not their business, as most are unaware about cursed energy.

However, many clans of Jujutsu Sorcerers have started to demand Fujiwara no Yoshifusa for answers. But Yoshifusa has been entered seclusion in the Royal Court, probably because of the situation.

Among a few others, I can guess the real reason. The Fujiwara Clan head master wants to not have all the focus on him. Imagine if the leading clan was also blatantly taking every spot of the imperial court. All the clans would be too frustrated to care about the losses.

Also, that's not considering the fact that the clan head is easily one of the strongest. I'm sure that even the awakened Kaneyori would lose, considering the stories of Yoshifusa exorcising a dozen Special Grades at once in his prime.

Even considering the guy is fifty-two today, he definitely wouldn't have lost his edge after engaging in politics for a couple decades.

That guy is still to obvious with his intention, at least in my eyes. Under the leadership of Yoshifusa, the Fujiwara clan consolidated power by strategically marrying its members into the imperial family. People are also not blind and have started calling it "Fujiwara Regency."

The signs already exist that the Fujiwara are politically strong, but most people realize the true power they possess.

They are full of extremely strong Jujutsu Sorcerers. They are basically the Zenin Clan's equivalent from the original story's timeline. The most critical and dangerous part of the Fujiwara isn't the royal family. Instead, it's the Sun, Moon, and Stars Squad. They are a mysterious group of assassins affiliated with the Fujiwara Clan.

I've got no information on them, except that they possess multiple Special Grade Sorcerers who plan on publicly executing Sugawara Kaneyori. I'm sure it's not because they are filled with justice; instead, they want it to be a political stunt to possibly crush the already crippled Sugawara Clan once and for all.

Not only are the Sugawara's treasure house full of priceless artifacts, but they also possess the Limitless bloodline. Even Sugawara Tomoe can have children that inherit Limitless in their bloodline, despite not having it herself. This means they would become even more prosperous and powerful if they swallowed the Sugawara Clan.

In today's era, it can be expected that they would want to rape and breed Tomoe until she cannot produce another Limitless child. That way, Fujiwara could even control the world with a small squad of Gojo and new Special Grade equipment.

After all, in the face of this new era of curses, humans still remain as greedy as ever. To be fair, I would do the same...

With enough cursed energy regenerating my body, I was able to spread out my chopped fingers among eighty-one new villagers. Every time I had enough energy for another finger, it would come off my hand. I've managed to regenerate all my fingers that I lost in the past, and have enough to give to others.

I am really too generous in this village. Sacrificing my own body to feed the hungry.

Without joking, I can really consider myself somewhat lucky that the chance to spread my influence came so easily. All the noise going around Japan with Kaneyori and the hunt for him has helped.

The only reason I've become this bold in the first place is because Dragon has led his gang of zodiacs to hunt Kaneyori in another town. That leaves this place safe to spread Yama's Court.

Kaneyori, you always find a way for me to hate and love you. I take back what I said about you being a siscon bitch.

Anyway, with the Faith I've gathered, I put everyone under the order to pray to me during every meal. This makes their loyalty grow everyday, making future orders easier.

"I really have set up a nice system of managing people in this village." Looking outside the window in Livia's room, I sigh to myself.

Feeling an influx of cursed energy gather around me, I rip off a pinky using my teeth. I spit it out and observe my hand regrow another finger. I stare at it and say, "This method has really been too useful. With the villagers praying during dinner all at once, I can easily create a couple fingers."

Next, I stick three fingers in my mouth. Placing my teeth on them, I bite down swiftly. Ugh.

It really did sting for a moment, but seeing it regenerate makes me feel better.

I have reached the level of Second Grade physical strength and cursed energy. Even without a technique, as long as I have enough cursed energy, my body can be protected against cursed techniques.

But what really makes me happy is this:

I start to sense the ice cube feeling on my forehead and erupt small strings of cursed energy from my palms. As they fly out from my body, I smirk when I see their colors.

Cursed energy is volatile in nature and its traits can vary from person to person. By that, I mean the colors typically dictate the nature of someone. The combos are usually a black/blue combo or black/red combo. It is usually impossible for someone to not have a combination with black, as it is the neutral aspect of cursed energy.

In the anime adaptation, most cursed energy is blue in color, but it can take on various other colors. Upon first unleashing his cursed energy against a Finger Bearer curse, Yuji's cursed energy was black/red while the curse's was a black/amber. I also remember Mahito's cursed energy was always a dark purple color with black streaks.

Now while color seems unimportant, it totally changes your affinity. When people don't have the black trait in their cursed energy, they become users of a special trait of cursed energy.

These are rare cases where cursed energy carries a special property unique to its user. When applied to their fighting techniques, it can grant them a special texture or effect that gives them an advantage in battle. These special traits cannot be defended by simple reinforcement techniques.

I remember exactly two people who possessed special traits.

Kashimo Hajime and Hakari Kinji. They both were never seen with the neutral black of cursed energy, at least in the manga.

Kinji's cursed energy had an 'edge', a rough texture that makes his every strike feel like his opponent is getting hit with a serrated bat.

But the more powerful one was Kashimo Hajime's cursed energy which had the properties of electricity. It kept his body in a constant state of electrification and makes all of his attacks impossible to defend against.

Hajime's special trait was so strong that just his regular cursed energy carried him to victory as a possible Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerer.

I've always wondered how they got special traits. Unfortunately for me, they won't be born for hundreds of years, so I can't ask them about it.

"But there is one thing I am sure of!" I force my hand in the air from the blindfold and release my stored cursed energy.

A dark string erratically flew in the air. It was followed by a swampy green vapor which spread across the room, filling it with the smell of mahogany and pine bark.

I'm sure the expectations were that I would possess an extremely unique cursed energy attribute, but that's simply not true. Whether I should be happy or sad doesn't matter, since I was given the black/green, even if I want it or don't.

This meant that I didn't possess a special trait like electrification or edge. At least it wasn't a basic attribute, so I felt a little special. I remember that Yuji's black/red had to do with being Sukuna's vessel.

Being contaminated with Sukuna's aura always caused Yuji to gain the traits of massacre and killing in his cursed energy, despite him being a peace-loving teenager. The red aura in Yuji created a feeling of him being a curse or a monster when others were near him. It's basically a passive way to keep weaklings away.

What my black/green color means is two things. First, I can connect spiritually to living creatures and sympathize with them, gross right?

I was so curious as to how I would ever get attributes like sympathy, since my true nature would never have that effect on my cursed energy. It felt like something unnatural.

But what made me certain about my suspicions was the second trait of black/green. Which is the fact that it can also make others feel a sense of peace, even if they are upset. It's nothing as serious as mind control, but it does calm down someone if they are after your life.

Now... who does that sound like?

"Any guesses?" I ask myself playfully.

Snapping my fingers in understanding, I answer myself, "Oh! Didn't Sagiri always have a feeling of calming down any situation in the anime!"

Yes! Good job me! I knew you were smart.

But seriously, I have truly become Sagiri. In the anime of Hell's Paradise, there existed real Taoism in the actual story. Everyone had their own innate Tao, corresponding to their spiritual self.

There were five different attributes. I did my research to break down the basics, as there was so much material to understand.

Fire represented intense yang and passion, water represented yin and creativity, metal represented insecurity towards self, wood represented channeling anger into positivity for everyone's benefit, and earth represented reliability in relationships.

Okay. Now pick what Sagiri's Tao element was out of fire, water, metal, wood, and earth.

"Oh! Wood! It must be, isn't that right Gabimaru sensei?" I yell to myself inside the blindfold

Truly a genius of the millennium. As expected of myself. Good!

What this meant was, as Sagiri, I would develop wood attributes in my spiritual self. That's why I've always smelt a sense of Spring whenever I used cursed energy. I can even feel less stressed whenever I am near trees and nature.

It's a really weird attribute, but it's only beneficial, so I can't complain.

The most important thing now is to escape my fucking prison! I've been stuck inside this shithole for my entire reincarnation!

I can feel metaphorical tears running down my face. The only thing keeping me inside this blindfold now was the cursed energy deficiency. That's because Special Grade Cursed Spirits were meant to be used for five years until they used their energy to escape.

For me, I just waited for the seal to weaken, but I still cannot fully escape. If I want to escape, I will need First Grade level energy to break the blindfold's sealing power. Another option would be to wait another year for the blindfold to naturally erode, but I'm not that fuckin' patient!

I materialize two arms outside the blindfold to clap my hands together, "Now that I think about it, I'm gonna go outside and cause some chaos! As long as people physically see me, the negative emotions towards me will become concentrated! Alright! I'm marking tomorrow as the day I escape!"

Hahaha! No one left in this village can even pose a threat to me! Once I convert everyone, the neighboring town is next.

Which also means... I can finally eat some good fuckin' food without worry!
