He jolted in his sleep all of a sudden. His wings flaring open slightly as his body started to shrink. I stood up quickly as I backed away. He was shrinking quickly as his features grew less, and less dragon like. It wasn't the most pleasant thing to see.
I looked away until the sound of his bones grinding, and cracking stopped. When I turned my eyes back on him I realized that not only was he once again fully human, but he was completely naked. I rushed over to his saddle, and grabbed the first piece of cloth I could find, and half haphazardly threw it over is most sensitive area. He was pale, and looked to be near death.
I looked at his mana flow once again, and it had weakened further. He didn't just look near death. He was near death. I stepped closer to him, and placed my hand on his shoulder gently. He flinched as if I'd slapped him as air hissed into him past his clenched teeth.
He was in a great deal of pain. I needed more than what I had on me now. I had restored a good amount of mana now. Not enough to do anything real impressive, but enough to do something. I picked up a small branch, and used a small fireball to light it carefully.
Being able to use fire magic didn't make me fire proof. I used this makeshift torch to make my way back to my camp taking the road route was much faster than the forest route I'd taken before. I packed up what little I'd unpacked, and mounted my horse. I kicked her into a gallop. She refused to go down the path that led to where the swordsman had made camp.
I dismounted quickly grabbing her by the reins, and pulled her down the path. I tied her to a tree at the very edge of the clearing. She struggled, and yanked at the lead. She didn't like the smell of dragon being that close to her. I calmed her quickly with a calming spell.
Nothing in the world would bother her for half an hour or so. I pulled a blanket out of my saddle bag, and walked over to the swordsman. I carefully placed it over him, and noticed that he didn't seem to be as sensitive as before. I crossed my legs, and sat on the other side of the clearing so I could look at him more carefully with mana sense. His mana was still dangerously low, but the streaks of pain no longer showed in it, and his mana was beginning to recover.
