Regret

Lin Cian saw the powerful figure in front of him walking away from him. After she disappeared from his sight he sighed and felt relieved. He felt something unusual. He felt his body to be very light. He felt like he could feel his heartbeat, his limbs, and the irritating sensation of being tossed under the light which made it very hard to sleep even with his eyes closed. Because at once the woman left all he could see is bright red. He remembered the plan of the members of the party to leave the area as soon as possible. That made him get onto his foot.

Lin Cian narrated everything while deciding not to mention the event he had with the woman's spirit. Despite his tiredness and exhaustion, he explained everything to William. Lin Cian ought to stand but William stopped him.

"You need to rest more," said William without changing his position or changing his expression. He was sitting on his crossed legs. He leaned back and supported himself as his hands moved behind him. Seeing his demeanor Lin Cian frowned but he can do nothing of it. If William said something to Lin Cian he should obey him because William only raised his voice over Lin Cian when he was suffering from health problems. William was aware of the constitution of Lin Cian's body so he took care of him and forced him to take rest. Without any way to oppose Lin Cian surrendered and laid down and stared at the sky which was not filled with stars. It was nearly half a day after the hunt. They arrived at the twilight of the previous day but now it was afternoon. Lin Cian wanted to move away from the village as soon as possible.

Upon forced by William Lin Cian had no options other than laying down. He was sure that almost all the other members of the party wanted him to do the same. Due to exhaustion, he could have died the other day. Even though Lin Cian helped his team the others didn't seem to appreciate him but cursed him. Especially William and Wei Li. Even though Lin Cian couldn't move he overheard the conversation and half-heartedly witnessed the cold war between Wei Li and the June and Harry couple. He felt sorry for making them worried.

He decided to sneak peek into their current activities and find out about their thoughts. He focused on his mental perception of the ground and expanded the range until he saw his comrades. He saw Darius was sleeping with drools leaking and he was snoring as loud as he can. That's what Lin Cian thought when he saw him through his mental perception.

Then he saw June. June and Harry were doing some flirting and so. Lin Cian decided not to get into their privacy so he turned off from there. He saw Aveda the leader of their party was looking over something like a memorial or a tablet and murmuring something. "Looks like she is praying or something" muttered Lin Cian. But Wei Li was nowhere to be found. Lin Cian turned the whole village upside down but he couldn't find him. Lin Cian remembered the fight between Harry and Wei Li. He couldn't help but blame himself for making them fight against each other. He saw many villagers along the way to find his comrades. No one found him and adding to that he can see there is no one thinking about confronting him or demanding an explanation from him But he can't be sure of that for William.

Usually, William was very protective of Lin Cian just like June but Lin Could also see that William was worried about something else other than worrying about him. Lin Cian wondered what that will be because he have never seen William worried about something to make him feel groundless. After a few minutes of thinking something strike his head. He felt like it was too painful to ask William so he decided not to. He opened his eyes and turned his head towards William who haven't changed his stance.

"You found it?" a deep and hollow male voice followed by a sigh slipped out of William's mouth. Lin Cian preferred to stay silent. However, William was hurt deep inside and wanted to spill it to someone. As for that other than Lin Cian, no one can be seen fit by William. So he chose to say it.

"I was worried about my mother," William said in a downgraded voice. His voice clearly represents his emotions within him. He really meant what he said. Lin Cian understood why he was worried. After all, William was a halfling. His mother should have suffered more.

Lin Cian found the reason. He just guessed it but it was the truth. William saw how the villagers suffered from the dire wolves. He was a werewolf most notably a dire wolf. How can he not be worried about that? When the women of the village got treated badly by the wolves he should have imagined how his mother would have suffered. He had no father. At least he hasn't seen him. The fact that his mother gave birth to him and was suffered and humiliated for giving birth before marrying must have choked him. Even Lin Cian could feel the pain William had in his heart.

It was not many years ago dire wolves started to go mad and do immoral things. Dire wolves were the strongest among their species. But they found themselves being less in numbers. But the thought and desire to acquire the land led them to go astray. They conquered many lands and captivated the people of the land. Men and women of the other tribes were forcefully involved in expanding their race. No tribes were off the hook from them. They don't care about the decision made by their partner. They just forced them because the dire wolves were very strong. After many of the wolf tribes were captured the dire wolves didn't feel satisfied. Hence they invaded other species like foxes, huskies, mountain dogs, and other similar species. Soon the other species became aware of that and ran for their lives. Upon seeing the failure of not conquering the other species the frustrated beasts rushed into a human village and captured the defenseless people. The beasts were very surprised to see the taste and the pleasure they got hearing the cry in pain and agony of humans was priceless. Their sadistic nature and the pleasure they got from the pain of others made them feel superior. As time went by many tribes of werewolves and humans got into the act and hunted the dire wolves. Werewolves were superior tribes which are generally the kind of royals of the wolf tribe. Even many of the werewolf tribes were destroyed and plundered by dire wolves during the battle.

As for werewolves, it is not something anyone can learn about. They were not only royalty but ancestors. After cultivating for thousand years a beast gains intelligence or enlightenment and after a few extended years of cultivation, the enilighted beasts may transform into a human. The extended years of the beasts to cultivate themselves into human form differs and depends upon the individual and their race. It can be ten years or can be more than a thousand years. They can alternate themselves between their human and beast forms according to their own will. Dracula was the first to understand and accomplish himself to become a human followed by wolves. It was then followed by the other beasts. The children born to the beasts that can transform into humans were born with extraordinary strength as their parents have. The children born with certain abilities in the wolf tribe are called werewolves. There is also another way to make a child with that strength and the dire wolves invented and used the method which is to have a child with the human race.
