Chapter Twenty-Five

Where were they?

I grabbed the left shoulder of the dying trooper, still on his feet, and used him as a shield to protect myself from the blaster bolts coming my way from the remaining soldiers.

Using the junction between his shoulder and neck as a stand, I shot my blaster, managing to pierce the helmets of a few.

Fucking hell.

Grabbing a grenade, I stuck it on my new shield and shoved him forward while rolling back to dodge the bolts and get away from the incoming explosion.

As the grenade exploded, it pushed me back, messing up my roll and lifting me up in the air.

Grunting, I hit the wall and fell to the ground. Groaning slightly, I stood up and stretched my neck.

"Too much force, need to tone it down a bit."

Mumbling, I looked around, everyone was dead, which was a plus, but that wasn't the problem, where were the others?

The force pulsed minutely, almost undetectable.

Turning around, I lifted my blaster and aimed down the hall with our exit route. The sound of footsteps reached my ears, and I waited.

A black armored leg stepped over a stormtrooper as the man looked around the corridor with his nonexistent eyebrows raised, almost like he was impressed.

He looked at me and I faintly remembered the man that inspected my crate a while ago. Shoving that thought to the back burner, I pulled the trigger.

The red bolt shot out from my muzzle, headed to my new opponent's head. The man reacted, unlatching his lightsaber hilt and trying to deflect the bolt, most likely back at me.

That didn't work, however. As soon as the two energy constructs impacted, my bolt was directed behind the inquisitor, grazing his shoulder guard.

"Impatient, aren't you?"

I rose an eyebrow under my helmet. Impatient? What? Did he expect me to stare him down before engaging in epic combat that would end in one or both of us dying?

Well, that was retarded.

Huffing out a breath, I rush forward, tilting my body to avoid the overhead slash that would split me into two. I held down the trigger, a swirling blade extending from my pistol and I tried to shove it into the man's neck.

He tilted his head to the side, avoiding the jab slashing his red saber to my right side, the one that was overextended.

Scowling, I activated the energy shield with a little application of the Force. I could see the Inquisitor's eyes widen and I turned my jab into a spin on the heel and sent a kick his way as soon as the shield dropped.

The kick connected on his chest plate, denting the metal slightly and as he was flying back, a push of Force was sent my way. I could have stopped it, redirected it, or split it in half to send both halves to my sides, but that would blow my cover.

The wall of invisible force hit me, blasting me back into the wall. Landing on my feet, I didn't have the time to think as I felt another Force push directed my way.

Rolling to the side, I reached for my knife, unsheathing it and readying for the plan I currently did not have.

Why did I not have a plan?

Before both of us could do anything, the building shook. Stabilizing myself, I glared at the fucker that was delaying me. Fuck it, I didn't have the time for this.

Reaching into the force, I mapped out the area, locating all the cameras that would spot what I was doing. With a single twitch of my finger, they were reduced to scrap metal as I capitalized on the surprise of the Inquisitor to rush closer.

Avoiding the arc of the swing that he tried to take my arm off with, I pivoted to the opposite side and placed a hand on the side of his chest plate.

As the second blade on the double-sided lightsaber activated, the hold I had on the Force extended to his insides.

The man's heart and lungs were crushed in one swift motion as his lightsaber fell to the ground, and the dead body fell to the ground.

That was laughably easy.

Now to get rid of the evidence.

Taking out a grenade, I aimed my blaster at the man's chest and pulled the trigger, creating a decent-sized hole in his lifeless body.

Never learned his name, but I didn't learn the names of the other inquisitors either, so this was just another number on the death count.

Shoving the butt of the grenade into the hole, I used the force to grab the now ownerless lightsaber and headed toward the elevator, pressing the button just in time to avoid the blast.

Latching the lightsaber on my belt, I crossed my arms and waited...

"... This is surprisingly eventful."

I murmured, looking around the elevator, nothing remarkable about it, a square container that brought you up. I sighed and waited for a little longer...

And waited...

And wai- Ah the doors opened.

As I walked out of the elevator I looked around in the hopes of spotting at least one of the members of the team I came with, but finding them would be easy, the loud sounds coming down one of the halls.

Running down the hall, I turned the corner only for a shiver to run down my spine.

Ignoring the feeling, I kept getting closer to the sound of combat and spotted something truly interesting.

A blue lightsaber is held in hand by Kanan, his other a stump, while he angles it towards a figure in black.

The said figure held a red saber, the lenses of his helmet, reflecting in the light and what seemed like the sound of filtered breathing resonating throughout the hall every time he breathed.

As soon as he turned to me, the force positively screamed at me to run.

Sabine was slumped over Zeb's lap, who was resting against a wall in a sitting position. Most probably slammed into it with force.

Well... I guess it was time for a difficulty tweak anyway.
