Chapter 46: It's Still Burning

Jin' POV

On our way back to the HQ, Ashley has said that we should find Kristana and the others first. They were separated when Ashley went to rescue her trapped classmates. Kristana, Kris and Ava fought against a higher fire golem so they couldn't stop Ashley when she left on herself and rescued her classmates.

We haven't found the body of Kristana nor the others, so we expect them to be alive. They couldn't have left, right? Would they leave a young girl behind?

While driving, I glanced at both sides of the road. There were fire wolves all over the place. I don't think we can go on like this.

"Eva, Ashley... I think we need to get out of the car" I said.

"Why? Did something happen?" Ashley replied. As soon as she finished her sentence, a fire wolf jumped on the back of the car.

"Get out" I said and we got out of the car.

I equipped Leo and then engulfed my sword in flames.

I then slashed the wolf into half. Although, I managed to kill it quickly, it still let out a cry that attracted the attention of the other fire wolves.

We're surrounded. Ok, keep your composure and calm down. I have Eva and Ashley by my side. Eva can take on a hundred of these. This should be a piece of cake.

"How many are there?" I asked.

"Twenty-four." Eva replied and then positioned her hands "It's my first time using this spell, let me try it first"

[Eva used Lightning Mist]

Then a cloud of mist came out from her hands. It covered the whole area, surrounding us and the flame wolves. Then, a series of sparks appeared and electrocuted all the fire wolves.

That much EXP? She's now level 83, and I'm level 90. While Ashley's level 25. I looked at the car, the back part was already wrecked. Seems we couldn't drive to the HQ.

"Let's walk there" I said and they nodded. We continued and walked towards the direction of our HQ. It was a quiet and uneventful walk. There were no monsters... nor people, it was just pure ruins.

"I feel a bit eerie" Ashley said.

"Stay close to me" Eva replied and got close to Ashley.

I just felt a presence watching us, but I paid it no mind. We continued walking, and after a few minutes, we arrived at the HQ.

Captain Emray, Jane, Mark, Tristan and Jasmine were there to greet us. Mark then aimed his bow-harp at us. He then shoots, so we quickly ducked. The arrow hit a target, and it let out a scream.

"So that was a banshee" I said.

"What's a banshee?" Ashley asked.

"A type of spectral monster or like more of a ghost. It attacks with its scream that can shatter glass and it can manipulate the minds of people using voices." Jasmine replied "Andrei just called, he needs all of us"

"Wait, where in the world is Ive?" I asked.

"She said she's going somewhere important. She'll be back to bring help" Mark replied.

"Before we go, she has something to say" Eva said and glanced at Ashley.

"I... I want to join Spectre" Ashley said.

"Jin's sister right? What do you think captain?" Jane asked.

"The paperwork is not here, but yeah, if you want you're in" Captain replied "Now Jasmine, tell us what Andrei said"

"Kyan has been studying a pattern regarding the possessed people in zone c, d and f. They've found out that these people are all levelers, young and old... and they have one thing in common; they're all fire based levelers" Jasmine started "It seems that these possessed people formed a weird shape using traces of their mana. At first, Kyan thought it was a 3 layered circle but when the corpses started moving... the mana trace has become more obvious, and they have managed to capture the correct shape of the formation. It was a five layered hexagonal mana maze"

"Oh no, it cannot be finished" Eva said "That's a demon seal!"

"What!?" Jasmine exclaimed and quickly called Andrei back. She then gave the phone to Eva "Tell him"

"Hello, Andrei?" Eva asked.

"Yes, I'm here" Andrei replied.

"That pattern, about the formation of the possessed people. It's a demon seal. I believe, that they will use it to summon Ifrit. Fire based levelers, and Ifrit's fire troops... I'm sure that formation will be used to summon Ifrit" Eva explained.

"I don't think Ifrit is the only one they'll summon. We've already confirmed that it's a five tier demon seal, but Ifrit's not the only one coming. Zones a, b and e have a three layer demon seal, as well as zones g, h and i, zones j, k and l and lastly, zones m and n. All of them form a multi layered demon seal. One of the seal specialists here at NLEU has confirmed that it can be used to summon a fire lesser demon, a high demon and a demon marquis." Andrei explained.

"So what are our roles in this?" Captain asked.

"Spectre, together with squadron 18 will raid the formation on zones m and n. We will also raid a dungeon there to close one of their entry point" Andrei replied "I'll be going now. I'll wait for you here. Godspeed"

Me, Eva, Ashley, Captain, Tristan, Mark, Jane, Jasmine, Andrei and Kyan. There's 10 of us, plus the said squadron 18. If we raid a dungeon while destroying the formation, it seems this will be a pretty hard task for the Spectre.

"So, Captain... it's your call" Jane said.

"Let's just say that this will be the first assignment for our two new members" Captain Emray replied.

"Okay, let's go!" Jasmine said.

"We're walking?" Ashley asked. Yeah, we're walking?

"Spread out and look for usable vehicles" Captain Emray said and we all nodded.

Jasmine quickly found two black motorcycles.

"Mark, you ride with me. I'll drive and shoot while you block any incoming attacks" Jasmine said and Mark nodded.

"Dibs on the other one. I can use my spells freely in an open vehicle" Eva added.

"Hate to say this Jin, but I think I'm the one who should ride with her. I can cover her back with my bow-harp" Tristan joked.

"Yeah right. Eva, don't be gentle with him" I said and she winked.

"I found a car!" Ashley shouted.

"Jane, let's go" I said and we went to Ashley. It was a pick up truck.

"I'll drive" Captain said.

"I'll be at the back. Ashley go inside" I added "I can provide artillery with my magic blast and magic beam"

"I'll come with you. I can support you at the back" Jane said and we nodded. All of us rode in our respective vehicles

"Broom broom" Jasmine said sexily and we left.
