Chapter 72: The Tailed Beast Capture Plan! Uchiha Madara's Full Power Unleashed!
In addition, he was the first wand maker to insist on using powerful magical materials for wand cores.
Many wand makers had abandoned these potent materials in pursuit of wand stability, preferring to use more common ones.
Ordinary magical materials could easily fuse with the wand wood, whereas stronger materials often became highly unpredictable during the process.
No one knew how Ollivander managed to control this process.
Many wand makers coveted Ollivander's secret technique.
For him to have lived this long unscathed, he clearly had some tricks up his sleeve.
After serving as an apprentice at the wand shop for nearly half a month, Ollivander finally revealed the secret to Chu Yang.
"Treat every magical material as if it's alive. Imagine that they 'breathe,' and that this breathing creates a unique rhythm. Grasp that rhythm, and you can easily fuse them."
"You can only sense this rhythm after working in this field for a long time and handling a vast array of magical materials."
"I believe in your potential in this field, not only because you're smart, but because I can feel something similar from your magical energy."
"You can use your magic to resonate with this special rhythm."
Chu Yang asked curiously, "So how do I do it?"
"I'm not sure either; these are just my guesses," Ollivander said, placing a large number of materials in front of Chu Yang. "For now, just communicate with them the old-fashioned way. Hold them in your hand, envelop them with your magic, and try to feel it."
"You sure they won't explode? Some magical materials are really volatile!" Chu Yang suspected the old man was using him as an experiment, his gaze turning slightly wary.
"As long as you don't try to fuse them, they won't explode," Ollivander replied with a dry cough, urging, "Hurry up and start."
Chu Yang grabbed the magical materials and, as instructed, enveloped them with his magic.
Having never tried this before, Chu Yang really did feel a peculiar pulse.
It was like a heartbeat.
"Can you feel it?" Ollivander excitedly leaned over and asked, "What does it feel like?"
"A heartbeat," Chu Yang replied truthfully.
"Exactly. Now you just need to keep practicing until you master the trick," Ollivander nodded in satisfaction. "With your talent, you'll soon meet my expectations. Once you do, you can attempt to fuse the core and wood. At that point, you'll have mastered the craft."
"The only problem is sourcing materials. For some reason, unicorns have been scarce lately, and phoenix tail feathers and dragon heartstrings are also hard to come by. Practicing with ordinary materials won't be meaningful…"
Ollivander frowned, troubled.
Hearing this, Chu Yang immediately offered, "Don't worry. If nothing else, I can get some unicorn hair."
Ollivander glared at him. "Do you think unicorns are like house pets? Sure, they're one of the more temperate magical creatures, but that doesn't mean they'll let you approach them so easily!"
"It's easier for women to get close, but if a man approaches, they'll run faster than you can chase, even with extra legs!"
Chu Yang, uninterested in arguing with the elderly man, quietly pulled an empty suitcase from under the counter. While Ollivander was busy organizing wand boxes, Chu Yang Apparated, disappearing from the wand shop.
The next second, Chu Yang appeared in the Forbidden Forest. Not far away was a towering tree, and beneath it was a group of unicorns playing peacefully.
The unicorns noticed Chu Yang and, instead of fleeing, they rushed toward him in a pack.
In the blink of an eye, Chu Yang was surrounded by unicorns.
They affectionately rubbed their heads against him, behaving exactly like house pets.
Any expert in magical creatures witnessing this scene would likely have their eyes pop out of their heads.
"Alright, alright, stop rubbing," Chu Yang gently pushed the unicorns away, trying to avoid their drool. "Which one of you has been shedding the most recently? Help me out, I need some hair."
As soon as he said this, the unicorns bounced around as if they had been electrified, shaking their bodies to shed some hair.
Chu Yang barely had time to react, quickly bending down to gather the hair.
"Where has that kid run off to again?"
After rummaging through the storeroom for unicorn hair, Ollivander emerged, only to find Chu Yang missing, his temper flaring.
"Mr. Ollivander, are you looking for me?" Chu Yang suddenly appeared beside Ollivander, handing him the suitcase.
"What's this?" Ollivander asked curiously, taking the heavy suitcase from Chu Yang.
"Unicorn hair," Chu Yang answered.
"I don't know where you managed to get a whole suitcase of it, but let me remind you again—unicorn hair isn't easy to come by…"
Before Ollivander could finish, a soft glow emanated from the half-open suitcase, as radiant as moonlight. Familiar with the glow, Ollivander quickly shut the suitcase.
Swallowing nervously, he asked cautiously, "Do you really have a herd of unicorns at home?"
...
In the world of Naruto.
The "Tailed Beast Capture Plan" was nearing completion. All the tailed beasts had been successfully sealed, except for the Nine-Tails, whose location remained uncertain, and the Eight-Tails, which had escaped capture several times.
Though Konoha had worked hard to keep the tailed beast capture operations under wraps, word had eventually leaked, alerting the other ninja villages.
Konoha was already stronger than the other villages, and the spread of the tailed beast news only worsened the situation, causing widespread panic.
Even the Daimyo of the Land of Fire couldn't handle the pressure and sent people to inquire about the truth. With no other choice, Hashirama Senju publicly explained his plan to distribute the tailed beasts.
As a result, the Five Kage Summit had to be hastily moved up and was set to take place in the Land of Lightning.
While Hashirama was away, Tobirama Senju temporarily took over all the duties of the Hokage, and Uchiha Izuna, as the head of the Anbu in the open, accompanied Hashirama to the summit as a bodyguard.
Hashirama once again demonstrated his trust in the Uchiha clan.
Izuna's absence, however, left the leadership of the Anbu vacant, especially in the group responsible for tracking the tailed beasts.
Usually, Izuna personally oversaw this group.
After careful consideration, Tobirama decided to temporarily hand over command of the Anbu to Uchiha Madara.
But Madara flatly refused.
"I only fight the tailed beasts; I'm not handling anything else."
Madara's unwavering rejection only frustrated Tobirama further.
Konoha had no shortage of talent, but finding someone to deal with the tailed beasts was another matter. Even Izuna had allowed the Eight-Tails to escape multiple times.
After much thought, Tobirama finally came up with a wild idea.
At the Ninja Academy.
Chu Yang was in the middle of a lesson.
Today's class was advanced ninja tool throwing, and Chu Yang had taken the students outdoors to practice with shuriken and kunai.
Even at a young age, the Third Hokage was already excelling. Though mischievous, his talent was undeniable, and his grades were among the top in every subject.
In contrast, Danzo, who was just as mischievous, lagged behind, ranking only in the middle to lower half of the class.
Even Koharu and Homura performed better than him.
Just as Chu Yang was about to scold Danzo, a teacher approached and whispered something in his ear.
"The Hokage wants to see me?" Chu Yang was surprised but quickly handed over the lesson to a substitute teacher and rushed to the Hokage's office.
"Sensei," Chu Yang said as he opened the door, seeing Tobirama buried in paperwork.
"Oh, you're here," Tobirama greeted him briefly before pulling out a scroll from the pile of documents and handing it to Chu Yang. "Take a look at this."
Chu Yang opened the scroll and began reading. After just a few lines, he frowned. "This is tailed beast intel? And previous mission records."
"Exactly," Tobirama nodded, tapping his fingers on the desk. "This task should have gone to Uchiha Izuna, but as you know, he's not available."
"So, this falls to me?" Chu Yang looked troubled. Dealing with kids was far easier and safer than facing tailed beasts.
"Prepare to set off."
Tobirama's casual tone almost made Chu Yang lose his temper.
That's the Nine-Tails and Eight-Tails they're talking about—literal top-tier forces in the world.
"Alright."
Though Chu Yang grumbled, he didn't refuse. Tobirama had his reasons for choosing him, and Chu Yang was indeed suited for the task.
Chu Yang's quick agreement brought a rare smile to Tobirama's face. "Aren't you afraid of the danger?"
Chu Yang smiled back. "It's not as dangerous as the war between the Senju and Uchiha clans."
Clear threats are easier to deal with; the hidden ones in people's hearts are far more dangerous than tailed beasts.
"From the beginning, I hoped you'd take on this mission. If you succeed, your reputation in the village will soar. It's not too late to step in now."
"The plan to weaken the Uchiha was quite successful, but at the same time, we must continue to diminish their influence in the village. Handing over control of the Anbu is a risky move, so we must stay vigilant."
Tobirama Senju reminded, "After this mission, until Izuna Uchiha and my brother return from the Land of Lightning, you will temporarily oversee the Anbu. During this time, make some preparations. Understand?"
Chu Yang nodded, understanding Tobirama's unspoken meaning—he wanted him to familiarize himself with Anbu's operations ahead of time, preparing for the future.
After briefly testing Chu Yang's progress in ninjutsu, Tobirama allowed him to leave.
The next day, Chu Yang led three squads, consisting of a total of 12 Anbu members, and departed from Konoha.
Their mission: to track down the Eight-Tails. According to mission records, the last known location of the Eight-Tails was near the border between the Land of Waterfalls and the Land of Fire.
Chu Yang speculated that the Eight-Tails was likely within the Land of Waterfalls.
The Land of Waterfalls is a unique country. Its geographical position is unfavorable, surrounded by four other nations, making it vulnerable to attacks from all sides during war. If it weren't for the many waterfalls that concealed their settlements, life for its people would likely be much more difficult.
Despite its dire circumstances, the Land of Waterfalls managed to establish its own ninja village earlier than many other smaller nations.
In the era when the Five Great Nations had just established their own villages, many smaller countries couldn't even muster enough ninja to form one.
The ninja village of the Land of Waterfalls is hidden behind waterfalls, in a state of seclusion and defense, much like its other settlements.
Chu Yang found this a bit pitiful.
Once the Anbu entered the Land of Waterfalls, they made little effort to conceal their presence. Partly because Anbu was still relatively inexperienced, but mostly out of a sense of superiority.
The war between the two great clans had recently ended, and most of Konoha's ninjas still adhered to the belief in the supremacy of the strong, a mindset especially prevalent among the Uchiha.
