'We of course can talk about it, where do we start?' Max also realized that something was happening to him; his way of thinking has noticeably changed while some external emotions sometimes affected his actions.
'With the cause of it. I am one hundred percent sure that it all has to do with you becoming this werewolf thingy. It impacts the way you see people; let's take Dylan for example, you are now more attached to him and he shows signs as well of being more attached to you, like a child-parent relationship to be honest. We need to find a way to stop you from feeling that way toward him and toward other things, because you are more impulsive and sometimes even go rampage, it's practically letting yourself be in constant danger' Matt spit everything he had to say in one go, not letting Max intervene while doing so.
'But how? I am willing to do it Matt but I have no idea how to do it' Max sat on the cold ground, a breeze shuffling his hair while doing so.
'There are two ways that I thought of with the limited knowledge we know. The first one is to train really hard toward controlling yourself while the other… well; the other is to let me control your feelings and help with your train of thought. Though that is more dangerous for both of us as you know' Matt told Max, referring to something specific and Max knew what he was talking about but he didn't know how to use it in this situation.
'How would the second way work? We need to keep getting stronger but things we have to do at night keep piling up, the first way isn't even a choice at this point' Max picked his choice, the second one being more favorable in his eyes than the first because he didn't know how he should train to control himself in the first place.
'Thoughts come from your soul so you can think that I'm acting as a gateway in between those two, normal thoughts such as eating and going somewhere being allowed by me while influenced thoughts such as obedience toward Dylan will not be let through. After a while, your mind will be able to reject thoughts like that on its own but until then I will.' Matt told Max the process and they both discussed it in a very detailed manner.
It wasn't that Matt was trying to do something malicious or that Max didn't trust Mark but as written in the spirit weapon book Max acquired a while back this was the next step in their journey.
A spirit weapon and its user will stagnate in power and efficiency after a while and that point was called a stage peak; to raise your peak level, increasing the strength of both contractors, you had to increase your stage which for the two of them meant that the soul weapon had to integrate with its contractor.
This can result in failure for a multitude of reasons but the main one was compatibility as even if they signed a contract to which they both agreed on, it didn't mean that their personalities or way of thinking were compatible; going toward the next step while knowing that would be suicide for both as both the body of the contractor and the spirit weapon will break upon a failed integration.
An integration would fail if the two souls which now would reside in one body fought over control. The word control though was a harsh word and instead, you can just call it unwillingness. When doing an action such as trusting someone, if one of the souls didn't accept to trust that person then the integration is going to slowly undo itself, destroying both souls and bodies in the process.
'That will mean that we will have to hear each other's thoughts on most of the matters' Max said after remembering about it.
'I have a solution to that process which will make it mostly safe for us to integrate, your soul will give the ideas and my soul will filter what I am willing to do and what I am not, for those that I am unwilling we can talk and rationalize about it' Matt was somewhat excited toward the idea of integrating with Max now because even though he would still play a secondary role he would be more active; the most important thing for him though would be gaining senses!
Matt didn't in fact feel the things he hit, much less taste or see; until now he was able to understand what was happening through Max but being part of Max's body would mean something else, he wouldn't be getting information as a description but he would get information as an experience after integrating.
He would be able to see, smell, taste; everything a human body can do, he can feel pleasure and pain while also being cool-headed because of his developed personality.
'You are so willful to do it Matt so I'll be as well' Max replied after hearing the expectation in Matt's voice. He knew that this was a big step but he didn't know if it was the right time. He had no idea if he was rushing or not and it felt a bit stressful; the recent events made him more refrained from acting out after all but after hearing Matt like that he made up his mind.
'Should we start now? Or are we doing some preparation?' Matt asked curiously.
'We need some preparation' Max replied and he shot out of the soul realm, getting up from his bed before going into Mark's room where he found his friend sitting in a meditating position.
He went next to him, tapping on his shoulder to announce his presence in the room.
After Max touched the other a few times Mark opened his eyes, looking straight at him.
"Are we going anywhere?" Mark asked curiously as he knew Max wasn't going to interrupt his meditation for irrelevant matters.
"It's just that I have to tell you that I'll be in the bathroom, integrating with my weapon, and the process is known to be highly painful. It might disturb you a lot more if I didn't tell you what will be happening to me" Max then said, feeling a bit ashamed for some reason.
"Um… I don't understand what you will be doing but if it's highly painful why would you do something like that?" Mark asked curiously. He knew that Max was going to do it even if he retorted but he just wanted to know what that was, he didn't know about spirit weapons after all.
Max began telling Mark the bare minimum he needed to know, that there were these powerful weapons and that one of the processes to get stronger is integration; telling him about its advantages but not about its disadvantages knowing that if he did so Mark would most probably lose his cool.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Mark said, keeping his promise from before.
"I don't know how painful it will be but I will most probably be yelling, if people complain about it and try to get to me, I hope you can stop them from reaching me or even tell them that I am not in danger?" At Matt's recommendation, Max added the last part. Screaming as in shouting and screaming because of extreme pain sounded different from each other. Lots of individuals knew that and instead of attracting annoyed people it might attract people that are here to see what is happening and maybe save Max.
"I can understand why… Sure, I'll keep watch" Mark got up from the bed before locking his door, this would be the first layer of defense he would present.
"Thanks a lot!" Max showed gratitude before going inside the bathroom, preparing for the integration.
I've changed the storyline a little, changing the status of the previous chapter from a filler. Sadly we didn't meet the quota for any extra chapters this week but maybe we will the next week.
Thank you for all the people voting for my novel and for all of you still reading it. Hope you had a beautiful day and I hope you enjoyed today's chapter.
