Shake Ur Spine

On May 20, 2018, when everyone except the students having backlogs went home for the holidays, a homicide took place in Vidhya Niketan boys hostel at CGS college of engineering.

The victims were Sanjana Reddy-19 Female, Bhaskar Choudary-20 Male, and Dhruv Pandey-20 Male all studying B.Tech third year as identified by their parents.

At 2:00 AM that morning, the hostel warden witnessed Dhruv shrieking, swinging unsteadily on his legs, holding on to his neck tightly as to slow down the dripping blood.

"Help! Please help!" he collapsed onto the floor.

Tracing down the blood to a room, the warden found Keerthi and Bhaskar on the floor and immediately called the ambulance and the police. Keerthi had a cut deep down her throat and died of excessive blood loss.

Bhaskar had a punctured wound on the left portion of his abdomen but died of an asthma attack instead with an empty inhaler in his pocket. His parents stated in grief that he had that condition from childhood and that he never neglected his medication.

Both died long before the help arrived while Krishna Prasad, fortunately, made it to the ICU. His left arm was fractured and, his throat had a lengthy but shallow cut. He lost a lot of blood while surgery but the doctors luckily saved him.

"Hey, Sanjana! Hey Sweetie! Look! Look! Your mama is here! Please open your eyes and see me!"

"What happened to my daughter? What happened to her? Why is she not talking to me? Wake her up? Tell her that I am crying? Please ask her to open her eyes? Please...!" Sanjana's mother fainted on her husband sobbing for her child in the mortuary.

The police were waiting impatiently for his testimony to inquire what happened that night.

After a week in ICU, he started recovering when the police came to take his statement.

"So, Mr.Krishna Prasad, can you explain what happened exactly?"

An immense silence followed.

"We will ask you again. What happened that night?"

"Did you know Keerthi before?"

"Yes," he replied, taking a deep breath.

"How do you know her?"

"She was my girlfriend!"

Dhruv started explaining about that night.

"Time up! Hand over the answer sheets." instructed the examiner, "anyhow, I will leave in two minutes."

Finally, the Holidays! That feeling alone can weigh lifetime happiness. All the students were rushing out of the exam hall with lots of plans for their summer vacation.

"How did you do your exam?" asked Sanjana.

"Well! I wrote what I studied! Did you pack everything?" I asked her.

"No! I was studying the whole day!" said Anjana taking her phone out of my bag, "what about you?"

"As you know, I have arrear exams to attend!" I greeted her, "enjoy the holidays! Let's meet in the seventh semester."

"Same to you! Bye!" Anjana waved her hand, leaving to her hostel.

Saying goodbye to my friends, I came to my room and slept out of tiredness because of the night-out study.

When I woke up, I found myself alone in my room. I saw students packing their luggage in my front room. My room was in the east wing of the hostel.

I started for the canopy. On my way, I saw all the students leaving for their holidays.

On my way back to the hostel after having dinner, the entire path was quiet and deserted.

Suddenly, the sky started lightning and thundering, passing chills to the back of my spine. The clouds were ready to cry.

While I was walking in the cricket ground, it was full of darkness, blindfolding me.

There was no moonlight. So, I turned the flashlight on my mobile and started walking towards my hostel.

Despite knowing that I was the only person on the whole ground, I could sense someone behind me.

I started running in fear until I saw the warden, sitting in his chair at the entrance of the hostel, watching a movie on his laptop.

It started raining heavily. Till today, I could remember its heaviness toppled down the trees.

I was the only person in the entire east wing of the hostel, to stay, that night.

When I was walking up the stairs to the second floor, my eyes were trying to show me, someone, imitating my walk on the other side of the stairs.

Fastening up my walk, I reached my room. Changing my clothes, I laid down on the bed. Forgetting to lock the door, I started watching YouTube.

All the other rooms of the wing were left open with their doors rattling.

In spite of all the wind, my room door was still, opened slightly. For a moment, I saw a glaring human eye, staring at me through the door opening.

Immediately, I got up from the bed and came out of the room when I found nobody outside my room.

"Your phone battery is below five percent! please connect the charger!" my mobile voice alarm popped up, startling me.

I went into my room to charge the phone when the power suddenly went out, turning the whole building dark and gloomy, leaving me scared.

Trying to contact a friend in the west wing, I dialed his number when my phone ran out of battery.

I started for the mess, located on the ground floor, to fetch water when I found my water bottle empty.

Coming out of the mess, I was frightened by witnessing a ghost, gazing at me, creepily, from the laptop when my mind stopped functioning for a second.

I started running to my room when I dropped my water bottle in a hurry while the thunder and lightning continue terrifying me.

Locking down my room door, I sat down in a corner when I saw a man in a lightning flash, staring at me from the dark, in the opposite room.

I strengthened my courage and stood up, looking for the man when I started chanting mantras.

Opening up my room door, I hurriedly entered the opposite room and switched on the lights when I found a shirt to the hanger and that the power was out only in my room.

I heard the chanting continued from my room when I stopped chanting and started closing the opposite room's door.

Turning back slowly towards my room, I observed its door opening steadily from inside when I saw her.
