And so, today marks the day of the 1st year anniversary of [Re: DTS]. Thus, I've finally decided to review my book and give some insights on whether or not you should pick it up or not (I've rated it 3.0, as it's the middle ground.)
Now with that in mind, shall we get started? (At the time of this review, 27/7/2021 - 222 Chapters)
-Writing Quality-
I'll start with writing quality. In terms of it, I'm fairly confident to say that it's one of my best qualities of this book and as an author, I can safely say it's one of the good quality books out there. (Yes. I have flaws and me saying this gives quite a bad take on the other stuff since I'm saying 'best' quality, but I'll continue onto this point later.)
Though, despite what I said, you may not think so as my initial chapters (Arc 1 mainly) has some terrible grammar errors which I'm looking to fix in the future. But it does gradually get better as you progress through the story.
-Story Development-
For story development, the pace of the story is quite slow. So if you do not like it, you may not want to read it. However, I tend to write a lot of lore/backstory for my book, which I'm confident in.
But, continuing onto my previous point that I've made in writing quality. In general, I do not have much confidence in the earlier plotlines of the story.
1. I've got too many regrets and had many misoppurtunities for certain scenes.
2. At the time of writing the arc (Arc 1), I was incredibly sick - Thus, the flow was not there.
3. A few flows of the story that may not sit well with many people.
I for one had felt as if the dropping point for a lot of people starts here. And, well, I would too at a certain point. But, despite this, I'm working to improve on what I've built upon. Currently, as of Arc 3 and the recently finished Arc 2, I can say that I very much like the current flow of the story (With some minor issues I've faced some chapters ago). So, for now - While writing Arc 3, I will gradually revamp Arc 1 and the first half of Arc 2. It will be much better than now, that much I can promise.
-Character Design-
To say the least, I'm an author who likes to write dialogue rather than narration. I love to emphasize characters and have them lead everything rather than myself. I love the characters and enjoy every interaction that they have, even if some may be useless. However, it does come with some downsides as many (I presume the main reason) of you would like to only solely read about the MC since he is a support. But, I would also be focusing on the subplots of each and every side character (Mains) that are introduced. I'm a fair person and would give everyone complete stories by the end of the book.
-World Background-
Firstly, the PVP system in this game emphasizes a MOBA format (Yes, there is a classical PVP system like 1v1/or other game modes and etc) But, the main point of focus is the VRMOBA aspect (I will give this and the game equal focus) and I am very much excited to write about the strategies of how a game would play out and the like :3
For the game's core mechanics - I gave it a typical RPG take with my own twist to it (I had issues with cooldown initially, but I've fixed it) - I make sure the mechanics all make sense to one another and that, the game's logic is logic.
For this book, I have taken inspiration from multiple places. Games mechanic, novels like TKA or Overgeared, animes like Log Horizon and manhwa.
Now that concludes the end of the review. You can ask me questions down in the replies and I'll do my best to answer them (Without spoilers of course), but that is mostly it. Thank you so much for reading, have a great day!
I know this is a red flag for many of you reading this. But, who am I to say for you to read it or not? This is my take on it personally after a year of writing this book. However, I love the characters, the world of this book that I've written. So, my final words: You may like it. So pick it up if you'd like and thank you :3
