Reincarnated into the Pokémon Universe

My name is Derek Brown. I'm a 26 year old shut-in who did nothing but play games and watch anime. I was finally kicked out of my parent's house after all these years. I couldn't blame them. I was a college dropout, couldn't hold a job, and after all those years of failure I lost my motivation. I spent 6 years in my room only leaving it for the bathroom and food.

And now I'm here walking down the dark streets at night with no where to go. My face was greasy and a scruffy neckbeard was plastered on the lower half of my face. I sported a stained jacket and sweatpants. I looked exactly how you would picture a redditor behind the screen. Fat, neckbeard, nerd.

"Man... it's really come down to this. If only I had stayed in school, if only I could've got the job I wanted, if only..." As I was childishly talking to myself I looked up and was blinded by the Sun.

'Wait. The Sun? At night?' I took a closer look only to see what seemed like a flaming ball of fire heading straight for me. There was no chance to move.

Everything went black. I had lost consciousness. After an unknown amount of time, I awoke on a "ground" that could only be described as clouds. White fluffy clouds spanned for as far as my eye could see. And I was sitting on them.

As I was taking in my surroundings, a voice interrupted me, "Ahem, Derek Brown. Age, 26 Years Old in Earth Years. Death: Crushed by falling meteorite. All of this information is correct yes?"

I turned to the voice to see a lean young man wearing a robe. He looked exactly like a movie star with a perfect face and had the frame of a Greek god.

"Uhh what? Dead? Where am I? What happened? Who are you?" I asked.

"Firstly, yes you are dead. Secondly my name is Xavius, I am a servant of the almighty and venerable God. And to answer your other questions, I must first explain what is about to happen." Xavius said.

He went on to explain that we were currently at the "waiting room" between heaven and hell. With the way my life went, he explained there was no chance I was to be allowed into heaven which left me with two choices. Be sent to eternal damnation in hell or be reincarnated in another universe. This was only due to the fact that I died from a falling meteor.

It seemed like the universes that were available were only universes where it was both a video game and an anime such as Danganronpa and Corpse Party. As well as choosing the reincarnation, you get 5 reasonable wishes with many limits such as no god-like powers or wishing for more wishes. You could also customize how you look like according to what universe you chose.

After looking through the hundreds of universes to choose from it came down to 3 universes that seemed fun and safe to live in. The 3 being Pokémon, Digimon, and the Fate series. While my waifus such as Saber, Jeanne De Arc, and Astolfo... were from fate, my heart and gamer mind were telling me the correct choice had to be Pokémon.

It was every little kids dream to live the life of a Pokémon trainer and another driving point was the countless hours spent on Pokémon Showdown giving me years of experience. In a world like this, it'd be almost impossible to lose your motivation.

"Okay, I've decided. I want to be reincarnated into the Pokémon universe."
