The palace gardens were, as usual, fragrant and colorful, with exotic flowers blooming in carefully manicured beds.
Melisa stood before Zephyra.
She raised an eyebrow, her nose twitching slightly as she caught a familiar scent.
[Is that... Isabella's perfume?] Melisa thought, her red eyes narrowing as she studied the court sorceress. Zephyra's raven hair was slightly disheveled, and there was a faint flush to her cheeks that hadn't been there earlier.
Melisa shook her head, pushing the thought aside.
[... Well, whatever. Focus. You've got bigger fish to fry.]
"So," Melisa began, her tail moving behind her, "I learned a little bit about it. The Shadow Mage plot, I mean."
Zephyra's amethyst eyes widened slightly, her interest piqued.
"Oh? And what exactly have you uncovered?" She asked quietly. Melisa made a mental note to keep the same volume. The walls had ears, after all.
