Too Perfect

Darius quietly continued helping with food prep as much as he had been asked and, when he and Becca were dismissed from the kitchen, they ended up hanging out with her niece and nephew. The only other time he had met them, he had noticed how good she was with kids. They adored her. 

And why wouldn't they? Becca was adorable. 

He wished her mom wouldn't give her such a hard time. Just because she didn't have a successful career didn't mean her life didn't have value. 

Darius was doing fine until all of the other family members showed up—people from both sides because Maryellen and Dan both had family here and had the biggest house—and those he hadn't met last night started interrogation round two. Everyone was curious and even a little shocked. Apparently, Becca hadn't brought anyone home for a holiday before.
