This Wasn't So Bad

Speaking of things that would make Laney happy…Richard was reminded of what she told him before about faking affection for their daughter. She was still clearly worn out from her visit with Greg so he decided to take the initiative and ask to hold the baby. 

This clearly surprised her but she said nothing and the two of them sat in silence for a while. At least she didn't seem like she was going to cry anymore.

As they sat in silence, he was reminded of something he had thought of earlier. Lissy. What was going to happen with her once Laney was out of the hospital? He knew Laney would never abandon her sister but also knew it wasn't a good idea to bring Karina out too much, especially since cold and flu season was beginning. 

Richard brought it up and offered to have Lissy come over to their house but Laney looked at him like he was insane. "Aren't you worried about your work being disturbed or your stuff being messed with?"
