Uchiha Kagami pointed at Uchiha Hirito, his heart racing and a chill creeping down his spine. He couldn't believe that someone he had known for so many years could hide his true intentions behind a mask for so long, deceiving everyone in Konoha, including those closest to him. And this person was from his own clan.
It was terrifying.
Hirito looked at Kagami, an odd glint in his eye, his expression unreadable. Kagami felt a lump in his throat as he struggled to confront him, replaying Hirito's past actions over and over in his mind, piecing together moments he had dismissed before. Was Hirito always this person beneath the mask?
"Explain yourself!" Kagami demanded, his voice strained. "How on earth did you know about Tobirama-sama's death?"
The anger and frustration in Kagami's voice were clear. He had been blindsided by Hirito's deception, felt like a fool for trusting him all these years. He couldn't contain his fury.
"What rank are you to question me?" Hirito shot back dismissively, his voice dripping with disdain. "You're nothing but Senju Tobirama's lapdog. A dog who abandoned his master when he needed him most!"
Kagami was taken aback. The resentment in Hirito's voice was unmistakable, almost as if Kagami had personally wronged him. Hirito's words stung like a knife.
Kagami clenched his fists, anger flaring within him. "How dare you!" he roared. "I'm the one who should be questioning you! I was a loyal student of Tobirama-sensei, unlike you!"
Hirito's expression twisted into a sneer. "Loyalty?" he mocked. "I wore that mask for years, Kagami, for everyone in this village. I did what was expected, played the part. But I owe Konoha nothing. It's weak, just like you."
Kagami's face twisted in shock and anger. The man he had once respected had transformed into something unrecognizable—someone full of contempt for the ideals they had once fought for.
"You really believe you can just brush me aside? That I'll let you tarnish Tobirama-sensei's name?" Kagami seethed, his voice dropping into a low, menacing tone. "I've had enough of your lies, Hirito. I'm starting to think you had something to do with Tobirama-sensei's death!"
Hirito laughed darkly. "Are you accusing me, Kagami?" he said, his voice cold and mocking. "For years, I've bled for Konoha, fought for it. But don't flatter yourself. If I wanted Tobirama dead, I wouldn't have waited so long."
Kagami's mind raced, trying to grasp the depth of Hirito's treachery. If Hirito had such contempt for Konoha, had he always harbored this resentment? How many other secrets was he hiding?
But Hirito's face hardened, and in an instant, he summoned a sword with a quick series of hand signs. Lightning chakra crackled around the blade, its power illuminating the twisted smile on Hirito's face.
"Want to pin this on me?" Hirito sneered. "Take my blade first."
Without hesitation, Hirito charged, his sword a blur of azure lightning. Kagami barely had time to react, pulling out a kunai and bracing himself against the assault. Their weapons clashed with a deafening ring, sparks flying as the lightning-infused sword struck against the kunai.
Kagami gritted his teeth, feeling the weight of Hirito's blade as it forced him back, the ground beneath him cracking under the force. He had to keep his distance. Hirito's swordsmanship was infamous within the Uchiha clan; facing him in close combat would be suicide.
Using the Body Flicker Technique, Kagami quickly created distance, leaping away to escape Hirito's reach. "What happened to you, Hirito?" Kagami shouted, feeling the sting of betrayal anew. "You've turned into a monster!"
"Is that what you think?" Hirito sneered. "Konoha is weak because of people like you. I'll bring real power to the Uchiha, something the rest of you have failed to understand!"
Kagami's anger boiled over. "Then take this!" He inhaled sharply, molding chakra, then unleashed it in a blazing torrent. "Fire Style: Great Fire Dragon Technique!"
A massive fire dragon roared to life, spiraling through the air as it circled above Hirito before diving toward him, its flames hungry to consume him. But Hirito was unfazed, charging directly at the fiery beast with a fierce grin.
As the dragon lunged, Hirito slashed through it with his sword, cutting the flames clean in half. Fire exploded in all directions, but Hirito emerged unscathed, his eyes cold and focused.
"Still so naive, Kagami." Hirito's voice dripped with disdain. In a flash, he was beside Kagami, his sword aimed with deadly precision. Kagami could barely keep up, his body wracked with pain as Hirito's strikes found their mark, hitting his vital points with ruthless efficiency.
Kagami grunted, his wounds taking their toll. His thoughts raced as he fended off Hirito's relentless assault. He couldn't keep this up much longer.
Desperate, Kagami quickly formed a series of seals, locking eyes with Hirito. "Ninjutsu: Body Binding Technique!"
Hirito's Sharingan froze, and his body became rigid as the genjutsu took hold, leaving him immobilized. His sword hovered in mid-air, unable to complete the strike he'd started. Kagami staggered back, breathing heavily. Blood dripped from his wounds, each breath a struggle, but he had managed to stop Hirito's onslaught.
Finally, he could catch his breath, but there was no time to waste. The genjutsu wouldn't hold Hirito for long. Kagami needed to secure him and bring him before Uzumaki Mito. She would know how to deal with this threat and could help clear his name.
Gathering his resolve, Kagami stumbled toward Hirito, who remained locked in the illusion. But before he could reach him, Hirito's lips twisted into a smirk.
"Did you really think a genjutsu would work on me, Kagami?" Hirito's voice dripped with mockery. In a flash, he broke free of the illusion, his Sharingan spinning furiously. Kagami had no time to react as Hirito's sword slashed across his chest.
Pain erupted as the blade tore through his flesh, the wound so deep that Kagami's vision blurred. He staggered back, clutching his bleeding chest, struggling to remain standing.
"You… you were faking it?" Kagami gasped, his voice weak.
Hirito's eyes gleamed with dark amusement. "Of course. Did you really think I'd fall for such a basic trick?" he taunted. "You always were predictable."
Kagami's mind whirled with despair. He had been outmatched, his genjutsu useless against Hirito's skill. He knew then that Hirito had become something dangerous, something he could no longer reason with.
Hirito studied Kagami's injured form with a twisted satisfaction. "Don't worry," he said with a smirk.
Summoning a faint glow of green chakra to his hand, Hirito used medical ninjutsu to stem Kagami's bleeding and bandaged the wound quickly. He stepped back, surveying his work with a satisfied nod.
