You know he's still standing in front of you but you can't seem to find the words. You know that he's a Navy Seal but you've grown to have him around and you've completely forgotten that he also has a job to do like you. You try not to look too shocked by the words he's just uttered to you.
"I mean, where are you going?"
"Uhm…you know I can't really-"
You touch his arm lightly and start to laugh, trying to correct the dumb question you've just asked him.
"Oh, no…no…I know that!"
You feel like a teenage girl trying to impress her crush by asking stupid questions, which she knows nothing about.
"I mean, of course, when are you deploying?"
(Dammit! Let's see if you can't embarrass yourself, even more, Kim??)
NICK'S POINT OF VIEW
He watches you as you make a fool of yourself in front of him. He wants to burst out laughing but for some reason, he finds it charming that Dr. McPherson is dancing around like a schoolgirl. He feels his heart once again leaving him and it's as if he gives it to you. It's these little things about you that's driving him insane. He can't help but smile at you.
"I just told you, we're deploying now…"
He sees you taking a deep breath and then you smile back at him.
"I'm so sorry, I think I'm just tired. Good luck with where ever you're going"
"Thank you. I'm just going to check on Helena and thank you, once again"
"Don't mention it"
He turns around and walks towards Helena's bed but he's stopped by your words.
"Nick!"
"Yeah?"
"You come back in one piece, okay?"
He feels the warm sincerity in your words and your eyes are filled with worry. He loves the way you care for him.
"I'll do my very best"
He winks at you and then walks toward Helena's bed.
KIM'S POINT OF VIEW
You've been turned on by men before but this is driving you crazy. When he turned around and gave you that cocky smile and winked at you, you swear you almost lost the feeling in your legs. It's time that Nick gets a bit of his own medicine he so freely gives to you. You're going to have to drive him crazy and when you mean crazy, you mean in an undeniable sexual way. He needs to know what he'll be missing when he's deployed.
NICK'S POINT OF VIEW
He stops at the curtain as he sees Helena lies there, lifeless on the bed. He remembers the last time he's seen her and how he said the words "I'm sorry" before she stopped living. He feels his chest starting to pain and he wonders if he was the cause of her heart failing. Did he unknowingly cause her heart to stop by the words he spoke to her? He fights the thoughts that consume him so and walk toward her bed. He takes her hand and puts her hair behind her ear.
"Please be okay for me, baby. Please fight and stay alive. I've got to go now but you must look after yourself now, okay?"
He kisses her hand and softly puts it back next to her side. He gives her one last look and then turns around, walking toward the exit.
KIM'S POINT OF VIEW
(Here he comes looking so damn good in his uniform. Now is my turn)
You unbutton your white-collar shirt just enough so that your cleavage can be seen. You then position yourself in his direction. You proceed to act as if you're not aware of him approaching. You take a chart while scribbling something and then "accidentally" drop your pen. Just when you know that he would get a view you bend down and pick up your pen. You see out of the corner of your eye how he stumbles over his own feet and you know, he's seen what he needed to see.
He then proceeds to walk out the door. You smile to yourself and you feel satisfied that you've given him something to think about while he's deployed. Your heart stops a little just thinking of him not being around anymore and going into enemy territory. Then you shake your head, button up your shirt, and proceed to do the work at hand.
NICK'S POINT OF VIEW
(Fuck! What was that? What is she doing to me? I've never seen such beauty before. I know that she's beautiful but this astonished me. What am I suppose to do with my throbbing dick right now? I might not die on the field but if she carries on playing like that with me…she might be the death of me after all)
He's startled by a voice from behind him. "Sir, Master Chief, sir!"
"Sergeant Ray! God! Don't sneak up on me like that!"
"I'm sorry, sir!"
"Okay, out with it? What do you need? And why aren't you back with the rest of the platoon?"
He clears his throat "I…I…was just coming to tell you that your gear is ready sir"
Nick looks at him strangely. He knows that's not the only reason he's here. "Sergeant, are you sure that's the only reason you came all this way? Just to tell me that my gear is ready?"
He swallows hard. "Yes, sir!"
Nick knows that's he's hiding something but doesn't know what. When he smells something isn't right, he usually doesn't just let it be. That's what's making him an excellent Navy Seal. He doesn't just accept every little thing. He likes to investigate.
"Okay, then let's be on our way then"
Ray looks at the hospital tent and then walk back with Nick. They reach the tent and Nick quickly makes his way to John.
"Sergeant, I need your help?"
"Anything, sir. What can I do for you?"
"I'm thinking that Sergeant Ray is hiding something and I need you to keep an eye on him if you know what I mean?"
"Affirmative sir"
"Thank you, Sergeant. I owe you one"
Nick then walks back and assemble his team.
"Soldiers! Everyone knows what to do, if there's something that's not clear to you or you need to ask a question, now is the time?"
Everyone looks around them but no one asks a question. Nick looks at Ray but he just avoids his eyes.
"Okay, let's deploy men. HOOAH!!"
They walk once again through the camp but this time it's a completely different atmosphere. Everyone comes out of their tents and starts to cheer them on and clap their hands. They know that they're going out to fight for them, to get the enemy back for what they did to their base. Nick isn't a fan of receiving praise and so he keeps his eyes on the ground and focuses on getting out of camp.
KIM'S POINT OF VIEW
You're busy with a patient when you hear the commotion outside. You quickly look outside and what you see makes your jaw drop.
(Haba, haba, haba….dammit he's so pleasing to my eyes. I can just eat him up)
You see him walking humbling through the camp and you watch as he keeps staring at the ground not taking the praise that he so definitely deserves. You stare at his perfect body walking past you as a real man should walk. You see his muscles trying to break through his long tightly fitted camouflage shirt. You secretly wish that he would look your way and then amazingly he lifts his head just enough to see you standing there staring at him. You make use of this rare moment and mouths to him.
"Be safe"
He gives you his cocky smile and nods his head in agreement. You mouth back to him.
"Thank you"
