This is it. This is the time. There's no going back after this. My heart races, because this is where it all comes together. The whole plan. My whole reason for this night.
"You guys having a good time?" The hum and shudder of the crowd vibrates in my bones, like they're all inside me. I'm just praying they're along for the ride, because we haven't got to the hard part yet. "Thanks for being here with me, and thanks for listening to my story. I know this whole type of show is something new. Wasn't it great having Tommy here? I'm so grateful I have a best friend who'll keep showing up even when I'm an ass."
The laughter that washes over me in a waves breaks some of the tension a little. Only a little.
I swallow down the surge of nerves and take a deep breath, keeping my mouth away from the microphone so they don't hear it flutter across.
