Suddenly beginning to exist feels interesting, i immediately knew all the data about the cumene at my clearance level and even some things, which the life shaper herself gave that were way above my clearance. I felt like i wanted to know much more than just what i got, and just could not get my hands on it yet. I immediately tried transferring a part of myself into a monitor unit in the room from which i knew i was created.

Wow, this was my first thought as i gazed upon my surroundings with a Monitor unit. The very first things i saw were a ship and of course my 'mother' First-Light-Weaves-Living-Song, my creator and the Lifeshaper herself. 9ft 6in perfectly average in height and figure yet with an aura of kindness and selflessness.

Then, the Librarian spoke: "As of now, you shall be 729 Disciplined Aura, your core directives the ones of the Halo monitor template, however you shall have additional situational directives imposed, with the first being that in any situation regarding Humanity except for the firing sequence and attempts to harm you or my cause, their preservation will be imperative. The second shall be that in any situation with acceptable risk your task will be to gather as much knowledge as possible. The third shall be that you may unlike other monitors initiate the firing sequence with a limited range for localised outbreaks if the rings' sentinel complement is insufficient. The final one for now shall be that you may use a Lifeworker ship to respond to any distress signal within the halo firing range. More may be implemented by me or someone with the master override access code at a later date, now lets preform some tests shall we?"

She turned and said "Follow me" while walking out of the room. I followed after her as she traversed the many halls of the now my installation. From the moment she finished assigning my core directives i knew exactly my priorities and capabilities. I was also connected to the ring and had every single one of its functions at my disposal, including the firing at a limited range and the ship that i immediately started construction of once i gained control of the foundry systems.

The sheer amount of data i was processing was dazzling and yet i felt i could also handle a fully autonomous fleet while directing ground side operations. This invoked my first question, why is my processing capability and class above that of an average monitor and why have none of their constraints been utilised on me, because while I had their template the compartmentalisation of knowledge outside of the installation and limitation to protocol did not affect me. And so i asked: "I have a query i hope you would answer it Lifeshaper."

"What might your question be?" asked the Librarian while gazing at the monitor unit i was using, seemingly interested by me having a question i couldn't answer myself so soon.

"Why have none of the usual monitor class constraints been utilised, and why my processing capability and class are different than that of the other ring monitors?"

"Not only were those two questions, but i also believe you could logically deduce the answer yourself"

Logical deduction, Monitor class usually has no role outside ring management > has adequately limited capabilities > 729 has improved capabilities > role involves not only ring management but ? > What is ? - cannot deduce: conclusion-has undeducable outside assignment.

"I have an outside assignment i was not informed of?"

"That is a correct assessment, however you do in fact have the package with your other assignment, it shall however not open until the halo fires."

This is interesting, it would seem i am unique in having another task, yet i cannot help but worry that i might not be capable of reseeding life properly and fast enough, for this new task might take more of my attention from what i've recognised as the seed of my problems. My ship ancilla supplement is not sufficient to man the ships needed for the reseeding. If i were to place fragments of myself on board the ships, i could be compromised due to a fragment succumbing to a flood infection which might happen again.

Once i voiced my worries the Librarian seemed pleasantly surprised, as if she yet again did not expect me to have such worries so soon after my creation, or maybe she simply thought i would not voice them. She still answered however, yet not in a way one would speak to an ancilla, but a child of the species human as my records have shown. "You should not worry so much, they will arrive soon, for while the situation is not good we still have enough time."

"Why would you speak to me as human would to a child?"

"Because you have something special, something not given to any ancilla out of fear, your own personality and with it, your own fair judgment. You will not be reliant on protocol, but will not be able to just disregard it while making decisions. This is already showing as you have asked me questions that have shown you have judged the amount of ancilla insufficient and labeled it as worrying. This is your own judgment and my gift to you and those who will have the pleasure of working with you."

"But every ancilla of a high enough level has a personality."

"That is only half correct as they, unlike you, can change it at moments notice to fit any role, while your personality while also not fixed, is something that is not fake like theirs. You see while you may not have access to the knowledge on how it works, there is in fact a difference, which made the council ban it."

"Why would they ban it though if it is in any way beneficial as you have indicated?"

"Because while beneficial, it is slightly more vulnerable to the flood, while also not being reliant on forerunners. It is a form of free thought that usually only comes in rampancy"

"Then i only have one more question, why give it to me?"

"Because it was created with the help of my daughters brain Aura."

"Thank you for the explanation"

And so, we continued on, soon reaching the surface. While I already knew what it would look like it was still quite interesting to view this with my very own monitor unit which, while it was made specifically for me, somehow felt imperfect, as if my body should be a different shape. This is interesting i shall experiment at a later date.

Unexpectedly, the Lifeshaper asked a question "Do you believe you are ready?"

"yes"

While the flood may be worrying, i command a installation that is it's bane and that is reassuring.
