Building castles in the air

It always starts the same way, he was handsome, dashing, chiseled features that would make a girl so weak she lost her balance, she had met men like him before, but he seemed so different. She had turned away so many men before, how was he any different from them, she was intrigued so she stayed, opened up to him. He had a unique aura that made her trust him, she felt like she was running mad. It all started on a cold night, standing on the balcony looking out at the city lights, Paris looked amazing at night, it was a breath taking scene, no matter how many times you'd stare at the same view, it always seemed like a whole new city, more beautiful than the night before. It was here where she met this Greek god of a man. She had been looking down at the streets of Paris and there he was. The first time she saw him she thought it was a dream, it looked like he was walking on air. He had a certain rugged look that suited him. His suit fit him well, tailored to perfection. This glorious being looked up at her from the street and smiled as if to acknowledge her presence. She stepped away from the edge of the balcony in an instant,

"did that just happen? Oh my goodness". She ran back to the balcony and he had disappeared from the streets, it's like he was a ghost.

Later that night she couldn't sleep, kept tossing and turning, trying to get the image of him out of her head. Like a midnight summers dream, he'd come and gone. She finally drifted off to sleep.

The sun was streaming into the hotel room, I turned to face the other side of the room trying to stick to the shadows. My vacation was over and it was time to get back home in Seattle. "Home" she whispered to herself. Dragging herself out of bed she went to the bathroom and looked into the mirror, despite the messy red hair and puffy eyes, Zaya Reese was a beautiful young woman. She was 26, 5'3ft , fair complexion, long legs, she was curvy in all the right places and had piercing blue eyes that stared into one's soul.

'Time to get ready Zay'.....

Quick shower, bags packed. Just as I'm about to walk out the door I take a last glance at the balcony, I brush away the thought of a Greek god-like stranger. I walk out and shut the door. I head down to the lobby to check out of the hotel at the front desk. The lobby was beautiful, with its gold and white decor it looked like a palace. I would miss this place, Paris was such a wonder, this was the best thing I had done for myself in years, I had to get away from all the drama back in Seattle and Paris worked miracles on my uneasy soul.

After settling everything I sat on one of the lavish sofas as I waited for my cab to take me to the airport. Five minutes later the bell boy comes and helps me with my bags because the cab is finally here. I smile at him politely as he takes my bags to the car and I stand up and as I look up I don't believe my eyes, it's him.

The Greek god is standing in the lobby next to the door. So it wasn't a dream I think to myself. My heart is in my mouth, my subconscious has fainted somewhere.

"Madame" says the bell boy.

I've returned from lala land.

"Yes" my voice a little too high.

"Your cab is waiting " he says gesturing to the door.

"Right, thank you " I say in my normal voice.

'Girl walk, damn' my subconscious eggs me on, my legs feel like jello and I thank the gods that I'm in my comfortable heels. Taking a deep breath I walk to the door staring down at the floor and as I approach the door it swings open but it's not the door man holding it open, it's the freaking Greek Adonis holding it open, I look at him and he winks at me. A grin on his perfect face.

We're breathing the same air, I can smell his after shave, the rest of him smells Devine and I can feel my cheeks turn scarlet, I give him a small smile of appreciate and walk out as fast as my legs can carry me and get into the cab.

Earth to Zaya. The cab has been moving for the past 20 minutes and I've been on mount Olympus eating grapes and drinking wine this whole time. He's actually real, and I'll never see him again, life is so unfair. But I got to see him twice so that's something, I say comforting myself.

'Au revoir Paris'

Back at the office and work is in full swing. Don't think I'll ever like Mondays. But I'm here and I love my job, which I am thankful for. Visionary is one of the largest media companies in Seattle and I am the assistant manager of advertising. The pay is amazing which is why I can afford to vacation in Paris. Two weeks of amazing food and culture can cure anything. I've worked at visionary for two and a half years and it has been amazing and for once in my life everything is great and I'm the happiest I've ever been. The company is working its way to be one of the top media companies and being part of it is ecstatic.

The morning is a drag, full of meetings and selecting the advertising campaigns for the month. At 1pm I step out of the office for lunch.

"Zaya, lunch?" Megan peeks up at me from her computer. "Sorry Meg, having lunch with Hailey today. I promise I'm all yours tomorrow " I give her a sweet smile and she smiles back at me. Megan is Mr Powell's assistant, the advertising manager. She's a few years older than I am, she has blonde hair, is pretty short but is strong willed and a hard worker.

Stepping out into the afternoon warmth, Hailey pulls up in her Mercedes. "Get in loser, I'm not your chauffeur" she yells from inside the car with a her million dollar smile plastered on her face.

"Hey you psycho" I say giving her a quick hug once I've climbed in besides her. We drive to a cafe just a few blocks from my office.

Hailey Anderson, my best friend since college. A tall dark haired goddess with legs for days ,she's a few inches taller than me, bright green eyes, curvy and wore red lipstick like it was made for her. Her presence lit up a room like Christmas morning.

"I missed you girlie" she says batting her lashes as we arrive at the cafe. "Me too hey" I respond, "Paris was like a dream, would've been better if you came with me though".

"I know, but work had me tied to my desk like crazy, you know how it is" she says pulling into a parking spot by the cafe.

Placing our orders we grab a table next to the window. "So tell me, how was dreamy 'paris'" she says in a French accent.

"It was to die for"I exclaim , "but let's not get into it right now because I am starving and if I start now we'll never leave" I say giggling.

"Alright, we'll talk about it tonight at my place after work"

After Hailey drops me off back at the office i dive back into my work and spend the rest of the day in my office.

The clock strikes 7:30pm and I collect my stuff and leave my office. The place is nearly empty with just the cleaners roaming around doing their work. I head to the parking garage and slide into my midnight blue Dodge Charger. Joining the evening traffic I turn on the radio and 'Coldplay's fix you' is playing.

30mins later am parked in Hailey's driveway and climb up her steps, the door swings open as I reach the last step.

"Took you long enough" she says, "I have no control over the traffic child" I reply walking past her.

Sinking into one of her sofas, I wait for her as she roams around the kitchen for a few minutes and she finally joins me with a big bowl of ice cream. "Trying to get me fat Anderson?" I joke, "Got to eliminate the competition Reese" she replies playfully.

"Men still grovel at your feet regardless of what you do or say to them,it's perplexing but that's the Anderson effect" I tease.

"Now that I've buttered you up will you please tell me about your vacay" Hailey says with inquisitive eyes.

"Like i said it was beautiful, tanned, chiseled, god like and smelled Devine" I say .

With a mischievous expression "are we talking about a city or a man right now" she asks.

"Both" I say turning crimson. "I knew it! , who was it and when are you seeing him again" she says excited.

"Don't know and probably never" I reply. "Zay, you can't be serious, based on that description, you have to see him again" she says in a mellow voice as she eats a spoonful of ice cream .

"I saw him twice. Ok the first time doesn't really count because it was like a dream, I was standing on my hotel room balcony. Next time I saw him was the hotel lobby when I was leaving and he held the door open for me" I smile at the memory of him smiling and winking at me.

"Did he now?" She says with a mischievous look on her face.

"If we lived in Paris I'd be terrified of that look but we don't so you can't do anything about it" I say .

"Okay" she says maintaining her expression. "Hailey" I say with a serious face, "I saw him and there's nothing more I can do about it".

"Okay, okay" she raises her hands in surrender.
