Tony’s Adventures
Alex observed the two girls diligently instructing a young mutant on controlling his powers, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.
"The driving force behind the plot is truly formidable," he mused to himself.
Even though these girls had been taken in by Alex, they willingly joined Charles' manor as teachers. The school bell soon rang, signaling a break. Jean, noticing Alex outside, approached with joy.
"Teacher, why are you here?" Jean inquired.
"Following Raven's lead, you guys came here to assist Charles, and I thought I'd drop by. It seems you're doing quite well. I just wonder if Charles is compensating you adequately," Alex remarked with a chuckle.
"I doubt the salary I give matches the pocket money you provide," Charles retorted, approaching with an annoyed expression.
"Are you not going after the Toad Gene Mutant? Why the hesitation?" Alex inquired, folding his arms.
"Scott has taken care of it. I believe peer discussions are equally important," Charles replied.
"Alright. Have you noticed the surge in mutants? Thirty years ago, there were only a dozen of us mutants, but now... the ones you've taken in have reached a hundred, and Eric's Mutant Brotherhood is likely even more extensive. The rate of mutant emergence is swift, almost daily," Alex stated gravely.
"I've observed it too. Isn't it a positive sign that we have more allies?" Charles asked, nodding.
"On the contrary, this isn't just a positive development; it's a potential threat. People, mutants included, can be divided into good and bad. With mutants wielding extraordinary powers, the potential for trouble is significant. We need to be prepared. And... I believe Eric won't let such an opportunity slip away," Alex warned, his tone serious.
Charles, taking in Alex's words, mirrored the seriousness in his expression.
"You're right. Vigilance is necessary, especially after the Apocalypse. Human attitudes towards Mutants were initially ambiguous. It was during that time..." Charles trailed off, memories of the war between humans and Mutants haunting his thoughts.
How different was this future from what he had glimpsed before?
"I believe among the new Mutants, many prefer peace over fighting. My manor can help with popularity, but..." Alex chuckled, interjecting, "Charles, you still have to work hard. Mutants attending school together is a good idea. I'll allocate funds to your school as a sponsor."
Charles looked dumbfounded. "Merge? Does that mean we've merged?" He couldn't help but feel a bit amused at the apparent laziness displayed.
Alex, with more knowledge in this growing Mutant community, could easily match the influence of Charles's school. Yet, he chose to let Mutants attend school at Charles's institution?
"You must understand, humans are social animals. I have only seven Mutants. It's not sustainable. That's the way it is," Alex shrugged, cutting off any chance for Charles to respond.
Charles was pleased. Despite his family's wealth, the numerous students and Hank's scientific research had been financially taxing. With Alex's funding, the scale could expand, and the institution could truly become a school.
"Oh, by the way, what happened to Tony, that young Stark?" Charles asked suddenly.
Tony Stark, Alex's younger brother, despite the more than thirty-year age difference between them.
"What else? He got accepted into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the age of fifteen. After six years of advanced studies, he'll be back soon. I heard this kid is already leaving behind a trail of romantic debts. Howard is quite worried. That's quite something," Alex chuckled.
For all these years, Alex had watched Tony grow up, and it was this guy who got admitted to MIT at the age of fifteen and ventured far away. Whenever Alex had the time, he took Emma, Raven, and Jessica to pay visits to this lad. That was the routine.
To sweeten the deal, a hundred thousand U.S. dollars found its way into the kid's account every month. With wealth, looks, and charm, picking up girls was a walk in the park for him.
"Haha, like father, like son," Charles couldn't help but laugh.
"Alright, don't get too cocky. Tony, as a top student at MIT, wants to come to your College to teach. You better be cautious with the girls in your school. Don't let this rascal deceive them and lead them into Eric's camp," Alex warned, pouring cold water on the excitement.
"No, no, that's definitely not happening!" Charles quickly dismissed the idea, considering the potential consequences. Mutants' emotions were already fragile, and if Tony played with their feelings, it could lead to thoughts of world destruction.
